The technological tsunami of the 20th century is transforming how you manage. The digital enterprise eliminates the constraints of time and space. You live in a 24/7 world. Socio-economic change presents new ways of doing things. Management's challenge is to learn how to respond to these new and evolving demands. The viability of your organization is at stake. Management's imperative is that the decisive moment is results, all else is prophecy. The way to achieve the decisive moment is thru an unending concentration on change and improvements. The dynamics of change contribute to the underlying changes themselves. You must find a harmony between absorption and movement. You achieve this balance by eliminating the process constraints and leveraging new technologies thru innovations. The limits of dealing with issues of this magnitude, in a single book, requires story. In addition, no single skill or remedy can apply to all circumstances in the present or an unknown future. The only reasonable way to deal with this challenge is to use story. This book blends experiences, observation, theories, and suggestions into story to provide you with Management Principles in a 24/7 World. Telling the story of my journey intends to provide insights that will give you a framework for dealing with change and both the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. The author tells the story of his journey. Bob uses story to communicate a framework for both the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. John Edgar Wideman says that A story is a formula for extracting meaning from chaos, a handful of water we scoop up to recall an ocean.
