About the Author

Bryan S Turner is Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Deakin Universtiy, Australia. He has published widely on social theory and made fundamental contributions to the sociological study of citizenship, religion and the body. He is joint editor of Body & Society and a founding member of the editorial board of Theory, Culture & Society.

Colin Samson is lecturer in sociology at the University of Essex.
