Memoirs of a Golfer: A Lifelong Journey
This is a book about a young teen who was not allowed to play team sports, such as baseball and basketball, for medical reasons. So he started playing golf with his parents and then at a local 9 hole muni-course with green fees of 25 cents if he teed off before 10:00 am. In his early twenties he joined Chippewa Country Club, a nice 18 hole course. There, he had an experience that led him to believe he always wanted golf to be a part of his life. The Chippewa Experience never left him. Not a long hitter, so after he retired he began a program working with wedges that would compare favorably with the training of professionals. He made many close friends along the way. Unfortunately many passed away. One in particular was particularly painful. Discouraged and somewhat alone when playing he never forgot the Chippewa Experience as golf continued to be central to his thinking. Over the years the family trips to such places as Hilton Head, Destin, and Siesta Key provided wonderful family times and new courses to play. He and his lifelong friend, John, continued to enjoy golf together and pulled off some miracle wins in tournaments along the way. But at some point Father Time caught up with him but did not diminish his love of the game even if limited to the driving range and putting green. He loved it all.
