About the Author

I was born in Leicester, England in 1953, and with my family, emigrated to Australia in 1962. I grew up the eldest in a close-knit family of three sisters and one brother. We lived in various towns all over Victoria during my childhood, as my father was a Station Master with the Victorian Railways, and we were always being moved around to different locations with his work. I am happily married with a husband and three grown up children, two sons and a daughter. We have seven grandchildren, six girls and one boy. Our family business of Market Gardening and later Flower Growing has kept me very busy over the years. Now as a retiree, I am living my childhood dream of writing a series of children's books together with my youngest sister Pam, who is the Graphic Artist of our books.

My passion for photography and Graphic Design started back in High School, but in those days, living in country Victoria, we never had the opportunity, or funds, to allow me to pursue it any further. So I became a hairdresser, then went into bookkeeping, married, had a family and life kind of got in the way. In 2015 I studied a Diploma in Photography but didn't find it fulfilling. I then joined an online Photo Artistic group that I still belong to. It is a group of extremely talented and supportive artists, with a fantastic teacher and mentor, Sebastian Michaels. Through this group I learned to become the Graphic Artist I am today. I have been lucky enough to have my art appear in the "fineartphotography" magazine, the "Living The Photo Artistic Life" magazine and to have my art published monthly in the "Artists Down Under" magazine. To be able to put all my crazy thoughts, and emotions, into a graphic concept, and then bring that image to life, must be one of the most satisfying, and rewarding, achievements I have experienced. Having to leave your comfort zone and challenge yourself makes you grow as a person. My dreams to illustrate a series of children's books have now come true, but even better than that I get to share them with my eldest sister Lesley, who is the Author of our books.
