About the Author

Raised in the south, MariaLisa learned about the magic of books at an early age. Every summer, she would spend hours in the local library, devouring books of every genre. Self-described as a book-a-holic, she says "I've always loved to read, but then I discovered writing, and found I adored that, too. For reading ... if nothing else is available, I've been known to read the back of the cereal box."

Oatmeal is her comfort food. She hates gardening but loves flowers; not cut arrangements, but in the wild, outside. She has a deep and abiding respect for our military. Her dad was career Air Force, and flew during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Parades make her cry. Walking Dead is about the only TV she watches anymore, don't bother her on Walking Dead night, when she's been known to shout, "Go Team Darryl!" Yes, she's still sad about Firefly.

She's a hockey fan, like ... a serious hockey fan. She's loyal to the Edmonton Oilers, but asks that we don't judge her about that. She also likes the Nashville Predators and Ottawa Senators. The local ECHL team, the Fort Wayne Komets, are a fav of hers, and she has season tickets. She'll also generally try to hit the road games within a hundred-mile radius.

She's a wanna-be hiker, working on a "bucket list" of hikes like Knobstone (completed in four days mid-April 2014 - whoooo!), sectioning parts of the AT (May 2014 was Georgia), and now and then looking west towards PCT.

She embraces her inner geek; MariaLisa has been working in the tech field for a couple decades. A sometime PC gamer, she still plays EverQuest after all these years. She says, "What can I say, I'm loyal (see above, I'm an Oilers fan LOL). Yes, I've heard of WoW, and have a coupla toons there, too."

On music, she says, "I love music of nearly any genre - jazz, country, rock, alt rock, metal, classical, bluegrass, rap, hip hop ... you name it, I listen to it. I can often be seen dancing through the house in the early mornings. But I really, REALLY love live music. My favorite thing with music is seeing bands in small, dive bars [read: small, intimate venues]. If said bar [venue] has a good selection of premium tequila, then that's a plus!"

Her short bio reads, "Plate-spinner / cat herder at work; totally geeked author; single mom in the thick of autism at home; hockey freak; wanna-be hiker; usta-be/on-again EQ gamer."

This book is the first I have read by this author, and I really enjoyed it, so it won't be the last. I know I certainly want to hear more about the rest of the bikers from the Wayfarers MC. I loved Mason and the way he treated Mica with respect and love. I loved how the whole club took her under their wing and looked out for her without crowding or becoming overbearing. Looking forward to reading more.

Mica has endured so much in such a short time at the hands of people who are supposed to take care of her. After leaving her Texas hometown, she ends up in Illinois attending college. She keeps to herself, but she has a few close friends. With those friends supporting her, she seemingly has a good life running her own business. After moving into her new home, she meets her next door neighbor, Davis Mason. Mason is the national president of the Rebel Wayfarers MC, and he also owns several businesses. When Mica moves next door to him, he’s drawn to her. They slowly become very good friends, and Mason deems her the club’s Princess, which means she’s under their protection. You wonder what Mason’s true motivation is in protecting Mica. I fell in love with Mason almost immediately. Daniel Rupert is a professional hockey player. Not only does he own the team he plays on, he a successfully runs a few businesses. When he meets Mica at Mason’s bar, there is an attraction, and he definitely wants to be more than friends. He’s not sure if Mason’s claim on Mica is as platonic as he wants everyone to believe it is. Daniel is a sweetheart with a big heart, but he’s been burned by women who only want what he can buy them. Mica finds herself in the crosshairs of her past, and it takes Mason and Daniel, along with the MC to help keep her out of danger. Just when you think you know which way this story is going, you’re taken in a different direction. I didn’t always agree with it, but I really appreciated the unpredictability. I was expecting more of an MC storyline, this being an MC series. Instead, it was about Mica, who happens to be very close friends with members of an MC. The story jumped in many different directions, and because of that, I thought it was longer than was needed to tell Mica’s story. I received this ARC for an honest review, and I give it 3.5 stars.

Without fear there is no courage... I am glad I took a chance on this book and was introduced to a new author. I fell in love with Mason immediately. He is my favorite kind of alpha badass biker who says exactly what he means and does it in a way that really pushes my buttons. I would like to hear him on audible...sigh. I also enjoyed many of the other colorful characters in the book that I look forward to spending more time with in future installments. Slate and Road Runner are gonna be fun reads, I can tell already. I confess that while I enjoyed the story, it was almost too much. There was so much going on all at once, and it was sooo long, I found myself tempted to skim to get to the end. In my opinion sometimes less is more. Mica had her moments where I totally loved her, especially her drunk ramblings...meep, meep...I got you babe. She could be funny and sweet and occasionally badass. But, she is also stubborn and deaf. Well, she must be since she totally did not respond when I kept yelling at her to wake-the-f*ck-up and grab that totally HOT, tattooed, muscled, dirty-talkin', sweet, protective, beautiful man that worshipped her. And Jess, her BFF, who is queen of the never-ending sentences is a favorite that I hope to see a lot more of. Overall it was a very interesting read full of drama, suspense, laughter, secrets, pain, misunderstandings, revelations, surprises, and a few disappointments when things didn't go exactly how I wanted them to. But, it's not over so the possibilities are endless and I'm anxious to see how it all turns out.

I’m a sucker for a good MC book. My favorite troupe is a sexy alpha and strong heroine and this book delivered on all counts! Michaela, aka Mica, had a rough life. Her mother died when she was a young teen and then she joined the Rode circuit where she was exposed to a bad man and bad situation. Vulnerable and damaged, she is rescued from a bad situation by Daniel and Mason. That vulnerability does not mean that she is weak, though. She is strong and courageous having been through so much in her young life. Mica falls for Daniel, not knowing how Mason feels for her. Ugh, I just wanted to scream “No, pick the other man!!” I absolutely love how Mason stepped back so Daniel and Mica could be together. He loved her enough that he wanted her to be happy…even if it wasn’t with him. My heart ached for Mason. But, he goes to any length to protect his Club Princess. **swoon** Daniel and Mica are together, but he doubts her feelings. She turns him away to protect him, but he doesn’t see it that way. I wasn’t a fan of Daniel or this relationship, but gave it the benefit of the doubt and it did not disappoint.  When Mica and Mason got together, I swear I cheered so loud that my neighbors heard me! I loved the angst and deep love Mason carried in his heart for Mica. The book did drag a bit for me, but it was worth finishing it to the end. Note that there are a few tough scenes in this book if you do not like rape or attacking of women. *I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

4 Stars From Sammy's Book Obsession! MY THOUGHTS~  I was provided with a Review Copy/ARC for review. Mica was a very good story once I was able to get into it. Honestly, I almost DNF for quite a few chapters. It seemed like the story was just all over the place in the beginning and I was seriously confused who about who I was reading about from one page to the next. It got much better though once I figured out who was who. The story picked up a lot as I read. So, I'm glad I finished it. The writing was good, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it was great in this first book of the series. As with the story line, the writing was much better as the story went. I got hooked, for sure. I loved the characters and ended up wanting much more of them by the end. I was irritated with the direction the story went ultimately. It was what most consider a happily ever after, but it wasn't the one I wanted, I guess. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series, Slate. I'm all kinds of intrigued by that man! Yum!

A great start to a new series. It has great characters and a wonderful story line. I read it straight through. I just had to know what happened next. It is a full book with no cliff hangers. 300 pages and you get your monies worth...I will be reading the rest of this series...The characters really pull you into the story
