About the Author

Michael Andrew Law was born 1982 in British Hong Kong. After studying Classical oil painting private lessons with New York Artist Daniel Anderson at the his then-new workshop in Hong Kong, he made a stunning reputation as the designer of a number of cover spreads for the press in Hong Kong and abroad and as an illustrator and creative designer of various Comic Books / Story Books covers. He then stepped away from commercial work and devoted himself solely to Oil painting. In recent years, he has aesthetically moved away from a stylistic "Pop Realism" to HongKonger-Realism, pushing his rendered subjects into a mythological arena. His artistic visions are treasured and collected by many and by art connoisseurs. From there, Law quickly gained recognition in the art world by exhibiting at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, The Avenue of Stars; Law's works are also appreciated and collected by many Hong Kong and international collectors. Some of Law's Religious artworks for Catholic Church of Hong Kong are also gained media attention at 2006 and 2007, and was also received by the Cardinal of the Catholic Church in 2006. His Pale Hair Girls are a thoroughly subversive tribute to the world of appearances worshipers and to the Hong Kong's Millennial Generation culture of the New Millennium, with which the painter has cultivated an almost ritualistic relationship. His paintings provoke and compel. There is a unique realness in spirit. The artist lives and works at Central District, Hong Kong.
