Microcellular Processing
Developed at MIT, the microcellular thermoplastic foaming process uses high cell nucleation rates within the foaming material to create foams with evenly distributed and uniformly sized microscopic cells, and has applications in commercial injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding. This slim volume summarizes the basic procedure and parameters for starting up the microcellular molding process, examines the effect of microcellular modeling on physical properties, and presents several case studies of parts successfully molded with the MuCell process.
