Love the story & romance

I had a bit of relationship with Mine for the Week, one that’s made it a bit hard to review. Erika Kelly has written some of my favorite books (read the Rock Star Romance series if you haven’t, it’s so much fun!) and she once again has written a couple that has unmistakable chemistry. There’s some great push and pull between Sophie and Ryan and individually as they face life post-graduation. But, there were times that I truly struggled. What I liked **Erika Kelly taps into the very definition of the New Adult Romance genre with Mine for the Week. According to Wikipedia, NA is defined as: “characters that are leaving home, developing sexuality, and negotiating education and career choices.” This book has this in droves! **Ryan and Sophie have an instant and electric attraction. It literally jumped off the page. This is definitely one of Kelly’s signature traits, this ability to write characters with unmistakable chemistry. With all of Ryan and Sophie’s push and pull in Mine for the Week this is never in doubt. And, they really work as a couple. They both challenge each other and bring out the best in each other. **I loved watching these two characters come to terms with where they thought they were headed and where they really wanted to be. Anyone of us can relate to that fear and anxiety that plagues a person as they head into the real world and when your path has been laid out in front of you for as long as you can remember, that just makes it worse. **Sophie is wonderful. I loved her spirit and no-nonsense attitude. I loved how much she wanted to preserve her family legacy. She’s a good friend and sister. She loves food and Kelly does a fantastic job of bringing this part of Sophie’s character to life. And, even though she’s at a crossroads, she is confident. **Ryan’s story is a powerful one. We met him briefly in book one of this series, Mine for Now. If you’ve read that you know that his mother’s an alcoholic and that there’s a bit of dysfunction in the O’Donnell household. Ryan has spent the last 10 years working to be the perfect child, channeling his anger into baseball and he’s on the brink of a major league career. He’s disciplined and talented. And, he’s suffering from panic attacks the very week that pro scouts are watching him. **I also really liked the setting. Kelly chooses to place her characters on a fictional resort in the Caribbean, Isla de los Amantes which literally means island lovers. What I didn’t like **I really, really wanted to like Ryan. I most certainly empathized with him and found his conflict totally believable. And, when he found his way out of his head, he was pretty awesome. But, I couldn’t get behind the choices he made regarding his baseball team, which I found to be incredibly irresponsible. He pursued Sophie in a way that made me very uncomfortable and was very selfish. While I understood that he was finally going after something he wanted, I didn’t like that he constantly disregarded Sophie’s wishes to get it. **As Ryan struggled with his decisions, the narrative stalled. There was just a little too much of his flip-flopping between what he should do and what he wanted to do. That said… Even while Ryan’s story stalled out at times, Sophie’s moved forward consistently and I liked where she ended up. Once Ryan made a decision, he really shined and became the man he and Sophie deserved. I loved the ending and Kelly really pulled on the heartstrings when Ryan finally faced his family (and

Everything in Ryan O'Donnell's life revolves around baseball, and soon all his years of hard work and dedication are going to pay off, with a trip to the big leagues. Growing up in a rough home environment, he needed something else to focus on, to look forward to, and give him a sense of discipline and he found that early on with baseball. But then suddenly the thing he has dreamed of doing all these years has lost it's appeal, now he feels like he needs something that challenges him the way the game use to... and it makes him panic and walk away from the future he thought he'd wanted. Now with his future is up in the air, his coach and father are trying to reign him back in, and he is on an weekend getaway with his buddies trying to figure out what to do...then she wanders into his life and suddenly things in his life don't look so grim! Sophie Valentine is on a mission to meet a man, and start her happily ever after... but meeting a man at a strings-free singles resort isn't the most ideal way to do that... or is it? Her friends and her come to the island for one last hurrah before graduation and she can't help but feel like the new future she is about to start is all wrong. She is fighting with her family about the future of the family business, she has no love life to speak of and her career path is completely up in the air. Then she meets Mr. Sexy Baseball player Ryan O'Donnell, and he completely turns her sheltered little world upside-down... and helps her see a future she never thought she'd have. In Mine For The Week Ms. Kelly introduces us to two characters that have come to a crossroads in their lives and are struggling to find the right path to take, never expecting that together they will find the one that is meant for only them. They both want different things for themselves, and then they meet one another, and fate takes over and puts them on a unexpected path that makes all the sense in the world, and boy was it a beautiful thing to watch unfold! Their heartfelt journey is filled with lots of little bumps, a few tears and some heartache, and lots of steamy moments that will leave you blushing. This was a really impressive first read for me, it had everything I enjoy in a romance story and so much more... I highly recommend you meet these two, their story is sure to tug on your heartstrings and curl your toes!! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title

3.5 stars--MINE FOR THE WEEK is the second installment in Erika Kelly’s contemporary, new adult WILD LOVE erotic, romance series focusing on the O’Donnell siblings. This is top collegiate shortstop Ryan O’Donnell, and Crazy Hearts heiress Sophie Valentine’s story line. MINE FOR THE WEEK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. We were first introduced to Ryan in book one MINE FOR NOW. Told from dual third person perspectives (Ryan and Sophie) MINE FOR THE WEEK follows the building but acrimonious relationship between two college seniors-professional baseball prospect Ryan O’Donnell, and cookie company heiress Sophie Valentine. It’s prospect week for college baseball, the scouts are in attendance, and our hero Ryan O’Donnell is about to spiral out of control. On the verge of panic, Ryan’s best friend suggests an island retreat to Santa Grenada wherein our hero will walk away from his future, and meet the woman with whom he will fall in love. Enter Crazy Hearts heiress and college senior Sophie Valentine, a woman on the cusp of a future that is about to be pulled out from under (her). What ensues is the acrimonious relationship between Sophie and Ryan, and the fall out when Ryan’s ex-girlfriend comes back looking to rekindle what’s left of their failed friendship and love. MINE FOR A WEEK is a story of family, friendships and facing the future. Ryan knows he is destined for the major leagues. Baseball is his life but our hero is looking for something different; something more. A past mired in heartbreak, a dysfunctional family where addiction and drama followed in its’ wake, Ryan has always fronted the epitome of perfection; the perfect son and student; the perfect boyfriend and star athlete but a man whose inner turmoil pulls our hero in another direction-a direction he is unable to decipher until the end. Sophie Valentine is in the battle of her life as her family considers selling her beloved Crazy Hearts cookie factory in the hopes of a lucrative payout and retirement. Sophie’s attempts to dissuade her siblings are met with derision, and a family unable to come to terms about the future. The relationship between Sophie and Ryan is one of immediate attraction but from the start Sophie is unable to let go. Ryan’s seduction of Sophie begins as an island adventure, and our heroine wants nothing to do with what she believes is a $ex craved athlete letting go on Spring Break in Santa Grenada. Ryan’s pursuit of Sophie is off-putting; she is unable to look past the ‘hook up’ of spring break. Trusting Ryan grows more difficult as their ‘friendship’ blossoms letting Ryan in will cost Sophie her heart and her self-esteem. The $ex scenes are seductive and intense. Throughout the story our very independent heroine had a habit of running; misinterpreting signs and conversations; and had a difficult time accepting the truth for what it was. She is constantly looking for faults including those in her relationship with Ryan O’Donnell. MINE FOR THE WEEK was a bit of a struggle for me. I didn’t like the heroine. Some would call her strong and self-reliant but it is this part of her personality that I battled because of the way it is presented-an over the top need to be independent, and separate from the whole. The premise is entertaining; the romance is passionate and intense; the characters are colorful and charismatic. MINE FOR THE WEEK is a well

Review: MINE FOR THE WEEK (Wild Love Book 2) by Erika Kelly Publication Date: October 3, 2017 Genre: Contemporary Romance Reviewed by: Reading in Pajamas/ Cori Rated: 4.5 Stars I fell in love with Ryan! Loved this book! MINE FOR A WEEK is the second book in Erika Kelly’s Wild Love Series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I usually like to read a series in order and the first book, MINE FOR NOW, is great too so I would recommend reading it in order. The Wild Love series a new adult romance series that features one of the O’Donnell siblings in each book. MINE FOR THE WEEK is a great mix of passion, emotion and humor. Ryan and Sophie’s chemistry heated up the pages and I just really enjoyed their story. Erika Kelly always delivers a great love story that makes you feel good. I’ve been hooked on her books since I read her first book, YOU REALLY GOT ME, from her Rock Star Romance series. Erika Kelly is on my must buy list and I recommend her to readers who are looking for a feel good romance. *Review copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Mine for the Week is set in a singles resort, where two college students have escaped for the spring break. They are there for different reasons. Not necessarily to hook up with anyone! Ryan is the captain of his baseball team. He is renowned, but makes an exit during a crucial game. His heart is not in scoring at the resort, until he sets eyes on a voluptuous brunette. Sophie is at the resort with her two best friends. She is there to enjoy the outdoors, not for the same reasons as her friends. Their first interaction is somewhat embarrassing. Sophie is in need of assistance and Ryan readily offers his help. Being strangers to each other, they decide to share their reasons for being on the island. Their secrets are safe as they don't move in the same circle. Not even the same town. They don't expect the strong connection that has Ryan persuing Sophie. She doesn't have casual relationships and he doesn't want a relationship. Will they take a chance for the one week or continue to resist the pull? This sort of chemistry isn't easy to find! I like Sophie's empathy and her problem solving ability. Ryan has been so used to aim to please that he struggles to make decisions. It's a soulful, sensual and fascinating story. I absolutely love the storyline and enjoyed it as much as Mine for Now. Superb finish! I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Head, heart and humor collide to upend love as we know it. For Sophie and Ryan instant attraction has changed the course of their lives. Now they have to decide to listen to reason or let their hearts lead the way. Ms. Kelly hit a home run with Mine for the Week. There's a sweetness to the story that gives it an almost ethereal quality and the passionate side gives off that addictive hint of naughty. A MUST HAVE READ!
