About the Author

Karissa Laurel always dabbled in writing, but she also wanted to be a chef when she grew up. So she did. After years of working nights, weekends, and holidays, she burnt out and said, "Now what do I do?" She tried a bunch of other things, the most steady of those being a paralegal for state government, but nothing makes her as happy as writing. She has published several short stories and reads "slush" for a couple of short-story markets.

Karissa lives in North Carolina with her kid, her husband, the occasional in-law, and a very hairy husky. She loves to read and has a sweet tooth for speculative fiction. Sometimes her husband convinces her to put down the books and take the motorcycles out for a spin. When it snows, you'll find her on the slopes.

Karissa also paints and draws and harbors a grand delusion that she might finish a graphic novel someday.

Molten Dusk is an amazing story that had me on the edge of my seat from the first page. I want more! I received a free copy of this book with the option of providing an honest review. The character development is off the hook! Solina's powers have evolved during the series, and so has her personality. She's seen some pretty terrible things, watched as those closest to her have died, and fallen in love. If that doesn't make a demi-goddess evolve from a squishy and scared mortal into a force to be reckoned with, I doubt anything will. As Solina's character evolves, we get to learn a bit more about Thorin's past and see another side of him. While he still remains a scary Aesir with a big hammer, we see his loyalty, his concern for Solina, and his desire to keep the past from repeating itself. The settings in the book are spectacular! The words leaped off the page and straight into the movie reel in my mind, providing me with panoramic views of the places in the book. Laurel did such a great job with the descriptions and it really set the tone for the different chapters of the book. The premise is totally enticing and enthralling. Will Hel ultimately triumph over the Aesir, the Valkyries, the Allfather, and Solina to start Ragnarok? It's fantastic because it's an age-old story filled with battling gods, love, betrayal, and action; however, all of this is going on in a realistic, contemporary setting. What more could a gal like me who enjoys mythology and contemporary paranormal books ask for? If you're like me and enjoy a bit of mythology combined with clean romance and narrated from a new adult point of view, you'll fall in love with "The Norse Chronicles" and Molten Dusk!

Title: Molten Dusk Author: Karissa Laurel Genre: New Adult Paranormal Format: Ebook - ARC Pages: 258 Rating: 5 Heat: 2 Thoughts: That was such a fun ride! Solina is one of my favorite female characters. She’s not afraid to admit fear but she’s not willing to let it rule her life either. She stands up for what she believes in and won’t back down. Such a great ending! As much as I hate that this series is over I absolutely loved reading it! Other than a few spots of “down time” it was nonstop action and adventure with a bit of romance (finally)near the end. If you’re looking for a modern Norse tale then look no more. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work and chose to write a review.

I’ve loved this series with all of my heart since I picked up the first book and this book just cements the knowledge that I have immaculate taste, which pairs well with my strong sense of humility. Molten Dusk, is the perfect marriage of norse mythology with modern day life, the descendants of the old gods are waging old wars – including the second coming of Ragnarok which will end the world as we know it. Solina, the heroine, is one of my favourite literary characters of all time. She gets stronger and more worldly with every instalment of this series but she never loses the qualities that made me adore her in the first place – she’s brave, loyal and sensible (which is a greatly underrated quality in a heroine!). She’s becoming more practical as time goes on and she’s taking control of her powers so she can protect herself and those she loves. Of all the side characters, I think it’s the women that I love the most – they’re all tough and vulnerable in their own ways and nobody treats them as lesser humans because they’re damaged. There’s a lot of love going on in this book (not just the romantic kind) and it hits me in right in the feelings, that said – the romance does amp up a little bit this time round and may I be the first to swoon over Thorin? I speculated in my first review that I may have a slight crush on him, now I’m unrepentantly in love. The battles in this book are even more dramatic than those in the last two, with all of the characters pitching in to do their part. This means that some of the intrigue becomes a thing of the past when things become clearer so that characters can take action – personally, I savour this part in a series when things become clear so that loose ends can be tied up. Laurel’s writing style is like wrapping yourself up in a fleece blanket and enjoying a mug of hot chocolate with a shot of something naughty in it – I can’t even put my finger on exactly what it is that appeals to me so much, she has a wonderful storytelling ability and all of her characters are complex and well written. This is a book that you do need to read in series otherwise you’re missing up on a lot of the plot and tension building, but it’s well worth your time to catch up. If you have so much as a passing interest in Norse mythology or fantasy, you need this series on your bookshelf. I’ll be investing in the print copies soon, the covers are too gorgeous to pass up on!

Wow, wow, I am so sad right now. This series has been one of the best I have read for a long time. I had been waiting impatiently for this final book, but then I was to scared to finish it, as I really didn't want it to end. Talk about tears, Karissa Laurel has such a great talent, that has given us a woman who is in no way perfect by any standard, but still gives you reasons to look upto her, because rather than give up or ( more often the case) rely on a man to solve their problems, they choose to pull from their inner strength, will she come out on top of the world? Read and find out. This author transports you into this book and makes everything feel real, from where the scenes are played out to the gripping brilliant storyline. She manages to keep the story mainly in the first person of the main character, but then when needed the other indelible characters, which I have no doubt, you have shaped your own decisions about throughout this series, are interwoven in a heartbeat and do not distract from the storyline. The other characters have there own place and strengths in this book, which enhances the storyline. Book 3 once again flows seamlessly from book 2 and I would advise you read all the ones before Molton Dusk. Honestly this series would make a great fantasy film, with an undeniable strong, independent female lead. Im sure it would be a hit. I rarely give 5 stars for a book, but this storyline has totally consumed me from the beginning. You will find danger, heartbreak, resentment, helplessness, betrayal, apprehension, dismay, mystery alongside discovery, strength, confidence, self awareness, belief, trust, friendship, acceptance, conviction all running alongside the innocence of first love? In fact there was so many emotions in this book and series, I was overwhelmed with tears, at certain events. My eyes were on matchsticks, the pull of this book was so strong, This series has been so well written and unique in its storyline, the author has managed to keep it well defined from start to finish, you always no where you are. The scenery was magnificent, I could see every mountain top, feel every snowflake or sunshine. I could continue on and on and gush about this series, but you have probably got the impression by now. Fantasy mixed with Mythology. Karrisa Laurel is now my favourite author. Thank you for the ride, it was fantastic.
