About the Author

Tanner was born September 19, 2015, in Jacksonville, NC. In December of 2016, Tanner was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was pressing on his optic nerves. He has undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy and had multiple hospitalizations during his lifetime. He has hydrocephalus and diencephalic syndrome. Over the past year, Tanner has developed a seizure disorder and that has led to multiple hospitalizations and several med-evacs from our local hospital to his treating hospital- UNC Hospital. During his many stays in both the PICU and on the regular floors, Tanner’s passion for listening to stories and having the hospital school teacher and his parents and grandparents read to him led to him deciding to write a story about his best friend, a stuffed cow named Moo Cow.
