Murder: A Family Affair
On March 10, 1994, Anson “Buzz” Clinton was gunned down on a dark road in East Lyme, Connecticut.  In the weeks, months and years that followed, investigators gradually uncovered the shocking truth: Clinton was killed over a child custody battle with his wife’s parents. The murder, set in motion by Buzz’ sister-in-law, Beth Carpenter, is not just about a domestic battle gone terribly wrong...it is part of a story of tangled, sordid lives with a bizarre and strange cast of characters that could only be conceived by the imagination of a gifted fictional story teller.  But the characters, including a devil worshipping hit man; his high stakes gambling mentor; and his girlfriend, a drug-addicted prostitute, are real.

This is the story of Haiman Clein, and Beth Carpenter, two people driven by power and greed.  Their sexual obsession with each other ultimately led to the ultimate betrayal and Clein's professional fall from grace...a man who admitted going to law school to learn “how to get around the law.”  It is also the story of how one mother, Dee Clinton, dealt with the loss of her son and her uncompromising effort, along with the relentless pursuit of two dedicated Connecticut State Police detectives and determined prosecutors, who, for nine years, pursued those responsible for the murder of Buzz Clinton.  The final act in this strange story ended in one of the most publicized cases and trials in Connecticut history: the trial of Beth Carpenter.

This is a true story about degraded lust, obsession, revenge, and murder.
