About the Author

Formerly an aquatic toxicologist contracted to the U.S. Army and currently a freelance reporter, Southern author Maggie Toussaint loves to write fiction. From journaling to short stories to full-length books, the lure of the printed word holds her spellbound. A native Georgian, Toussaint's worldview is shaped by her childhood experiences as a shrimper's daughter, her college years, and her family-rearing years in the Washington D.C. area. Her work explores themes of family dynamics, interpersonal relationships, and man's inhumanity to man.

She's published in mystery and romance. Her romantic suspense titles include House of Lies, No Second Chance, Muddy Waters, and Seeing Red. Her debut release, House of Lies, won Best Romantic Suspense in the 2007 National Readers Choice Awards. Her upcoming romantic suspense, Hot Water, will release in July 2013. She was nominated for the Silver Falchion Award and finaled in the Beacon writing contest with Muddy Waters. Her mysteries include In For A Penny and On the Nickel, Death, Island Style, and Murder in the Buff. Her latest mystery, Dime if I Know, will release in August 2013.

Toussaint is an active member of Romance Writers of America, Mystery Writers of America, and Sisters In Crime. In 2010, she co-chaired a Writer's Retreat for Southeastern Mystery Writers of America. She's a frequent presenter at conferences, lecturing on topics of pacing, plotting, pitching, revising, critiquing, and the business of writing.
