About the Author

Gwen Faris Bell is a long-time writer and recent illustrator. Her imaginative stories for young people
are set in the familiar places of her youth.
As a young girl, the books Gwen loved best were old-fashioned
ones, written 50+ years earlier by Louisa May Alcott, L. Frank Baum, Frances Hodgson Burnett and more.
Gwen wondered...might today's young people enjoy stories set in their own 50+ years past? If so, to
entertain and enrich today's like-minded young people with newer "old-fashioned" tales, Gwen set her
stories in the 1950s, when she was growing up.
During her 40-year business career, she's written hundreds of articles and columns for business
publications, merging analysis with creativity. My Invisible Friend is her first work of fiction. Now retired
from business, Gwen and her husband live in a modest waterside apartment, enjoying nature, walking
and talking, thinking, reading and writing.
