Rich and Jess are not looking to celebrate the Christmas holidays, all they want to do is spend the time alone at the beach but fate works its magic and they end up in cabins next door to each other. What starts off as a holiday neither of them were looking forward too turns into a holiday they will never forget. Will love be strong enough to get past the secrets they both have.... Twists and turns, secrets and heartbreak this book has it all, the characters felt real to me they both have real issues that they needed to get past and what can I say about the ending apart from it was perfect. I loved this book and I'm really looking forward to book 3, that being said each of these books can be read as a standalone but I think after reading one you will want to read them all so I would say start with book one. My New Year Fling is the second book in Serenity Woods’ Love Comes Later series. It picks right up after the events in the first book, My Christmas Fiancé. This time, the story focuses on another business partner of the very successful video game development company called Katoa in New Zealand. The partner’s name is Richard “Rich” Wright and he lives up to his name because he is actually a billionaire, just not a very happy one during the Christmas season which is where this book begins. Rich’s twin brother died four years ago during the holiday season so Rich truly hates this time of year. As soon as the office shuts down for the holidays, Rich goes up to the small family beach house and drinks himself into a drunken stupor. Generally, Rich has been able to do this without interruption but this year is different because he finds himself enamored by a beautiful and intriguing woman that is staying at the beach house next to him. On the other side of this coin is Jessica “Jess” Phillips. She is staying at a friend’s beach house to get away from her sad life. Unknowingly, she was having an affair with a married man that she worked with. Once she found out and told his wife about it, she was fired. Consequently, she is unemployed. Add that to the other baggage from her past and she is feeling pretty sorry for herself as well. Early on, she notices that her neighbor Rich must be trying to bury his sorrows with alcohol so she quietly keeps an eye on him and eventually introduces herself. She has no idea that he is wealthy and he doesn’t bother to tell her. Rich doesn’t believe in love but he opens up to Jess and they call themselves having a fling while they are there for the holidays. Of course, they get to know each other and realize that they may have something special. Unfortunately, a blast from Jess’s past creates a rift in their budding relationship and they work to get back together. Though they are from different worlds, they are really good for each other. I really enjoyed My New Year Fling. Clearly, some of it was predictable but overall there was some refreshing nuances that made this romance not seem so typical. In addition, Rich’s and Jess’s time between the sheets was atomic. I look forward to reading the next book, My Valentine Seduction and hope it brings the series to a neat ending. **Received a copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed the book.**

I can feel the smile on my face. What a beautiful story! For some reason an old saying "Good things come to those who wait" comes to mind as I complete the reading of My New Year Fling (Love Comes Later, #2). I loved it! The author does a fantastic job in the telling of the stories in this series. Everything is so realistic and the characters so familiar that the books are hard to put down. I look forward to book #3. Four years later, Rich was deeply mourning his twin brother. I knew there would be a woman and a romance, but the way the writer gently had Jess pull Rich out of his grief was just so well done. I didn't expect it. Throughout the story there were unexpected twists and turns. There was some sadness and grief, but this was not a melancholy tale. Rich and Jess had a love story that blossomed. They were very in tune and supported each other through their difficult times. It was gentle, endearing, sexy, and appealing. I really liked Rich and Jess. You also get to revisit Stratton and Meg briefly

Fun fling indeed! "My New Year Fling" follows Rich, another Katoa founder, and Jess, a woman trying to get back on her feet after yet another betrayal. After the ending of this series's previous book,"My Christmas Fiancé," I enjoyed getting to see the special woman Rich met during the holidays. Rich is still dealing with the death of his twin brother, Will, four years ago. He has so much guilt over his feelings about their relationship, both missing his best friend and jealous over Will's talents. His yearly escape to the family beach house encompasses Christmas, his and Will's birthday and the day Will died. With so much sadness compacted in such a short time, Rich fills his days drunk and barely feeling. Jess has had a hard time of it since she was a kid. Pregnant teen, homeless, inmate, and cheated on are a few of the unfortunate places Jess has been. After her last partner turned out to be married, Jess's self-image is damaged and she is also spending a solo Christmas at the beach. These two hurting people find themselves being cared for and feeling better than they have in ages. What starts out as a holiday fling starts to deepen for both, with both feeling like they don't deserve the other. Secrets are revealed, putting this budding relationship in jeopardy. I like how Jess and Rich experienced their bump in the road earlier on, not leaving one or two chapters for an entire mess to be sorted. There were still hurdles to jump, but they were more solid in their connection to each other. This was a great follow-up in the series, particularly since we don't see a lot of heroines like Jess. I can't wait for the finale of Teddi's book! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Rich and Jess meet in New Zealand while staying in beach cottages next to one another. They both are trying to get away from bad memories that are greater during the Christmas holidays. Little do they realize that they will be drawn to one another and be given the opportunity to have perhaps one of the best holidays of their lives…if their secrets don’t tear them apart. I loved both Rich and Jess and have a feeling that you will too if you give them a chance. Great story with heart, warmth, caring and oh so much potential for all involved in the story. Can’t wait to read book #3 and find out who Teddi will end up with. Thank you to the author for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Serenity Woods has written another fantastic story! Rich and Jess are two damaged souls who help each other let go of the past and live in the present. I fell for Rich in My Christmas Fiancè. I was so happy to see him find happiness, as well as his HEA. My New Year Fling has quite a few twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes and engrossed in the story. As always, it was well written, with likable characters. I do feel Jess needed some counseling to help her deal with some of her issues. I know she had counseling in the past but I think she still needed some help. I love that seeing a counselor is not portrayed as a weakness. I have read other books by Serenity Woods and loved all of them. She describes New Zealand with such clarity, I almost feel like I've been there. I definitely want to visit. I would love to meet a Maori man like one of her heroes.

Emotional and Sexy Novel. Rich lost his identical twin brother on Boxing Day nearly 4 years ago. He still feels the pain keenly and during the festive period just wants to blot the days out with alcohol. The author conveys the emotional bond of twins very well, how when one of them dies they feel only half a person, but I did feel for his parents who must have felt they had lost two sons every Christmas. Rich's neighbour at his beachfront bolthole is Jess who has had a tough life and has reasons of her own for hating Christmas. Neither wants a relationship but they become friendly when Jess helps him with his morning after hangovers and Rich finds that here is a woman who doesn't feel the need to talk all the time and she brings calm and peacefulness to his life. Jess is into yoga, meditation and reiki principles taught to her by a woman who has helped her to turn her life around (well until her latest catastrophe). I loved Jess' faith and how she explained her beliefs on death and like Rich I was fascinated by her synesthesia/chromesthesia. This book is told from a dual POV and can be read as a standalone. It is emotional and sexy, with strong language from the outset. I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the author and voluntarily chose to review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review.
