Overview

Ray Bruno and his fiancé Kip Hayes are horrible on paper. Ray is a chaotic millennial writer who's been oversharing his every thought on the internet since he was a teenager; Kip is a pragmatic Gen X medical doctor who values stability and privacy in his personal life above all else. But somehow it works. The pair has been madly in love ever since they were brought together six years ago in a meet-cute straight out of a romantic comedy. This summer, Ray convinces Kip to join him for an early honeymoon at a famous lux resort in Ray's coastal New England hometown, eschewing the tradition of bachelor parties and hoping to recharge before their end-of-August wedding. But when a surprising encounter with another couple at the resort leads to a series of mishaps and miscommunications, Ray and Kip are forced to look at their many differences in a stark new light-thereby turning the trip into less of a vacation and more of a test: will they be able to work through their issues in time for the big day? Or is this marriage over before it begins?

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"Nearlywed is everything I adore in a romcom! Hilarious and heartfelt, dreamy and dramatic, I loved every bit of this novel. DiDomizio has crafted two heroes worth swooning over and I did! Rarely have I been so invested in the outcome of a romance—seriously, this is a must-read!" — Jenn McKinlay, New York Times bestselling author of Summer Reading

"Hilarious, heart-warming, and utterly bingeable, Nearlywed will have you cheering relentlessly for Ray and Kip — and for love itself. A win for the romantics, and one of my new favorite reads!" — Kate Dramis, bestselling author of The Curse of Saints

As their wedding date draws near, Ray and Kip decide to go on an early honeymoon at a lavish couples-only resort. With a decade's difference in their ages, Ray and Kip couldn't be more different. Millennial Ray is a journalist known for his tell-all confessional stories, while Gen-X Kip is an established doctor who values his privacy deeply. When they arrive at their elegant getaway destination, they are forced to confront unresolved issues they've ignored for years, opening up arguments that threaten their future together. Ray, a lifelong hopeless romantic, realizes that he has to balance his desire for an extravagant dream wedding against Kip's reluctance to be in the limelight. And Kip has to come to terms with how his need for privacy intersects with his internalized homophobia. With their wedding only two months away, the couple find themselves at a crossroads, questioning whether their love is strong enough to overcome these challenges. VERDICT With a strong cast of characters and a gorgeous seaside New England setting, this mature and witty romance from DiDomizio (The Gay Best Friend) will appeal to fans of Alexis Hall and Emily Henry.—Migdalia Jimenez
