About the Author

Taryn Smith is a native of Nebraska who has never felt comfortable with the status quo. After being published as a junior in high school, Smith's debut book, Nevertheless, She Persisted, garnered nationwide attention, contributing to a new wave of female empowerment. It is Taryn's belief that every citizen has a civic responsibility to fight for social justice which is why she is choosing to donate 50% of her royalties to the NAACP.
