Overview

New Politics are a trio from Denmark who relocated to Brooklyn before recording their self-titled debut album for RCA. The relocation process may have included some time travel, because listening to the album is like stepping back into the middle of the 1990s alt-rock scene. The members of the band have all clearly and fully absorbed the era, and their sound takes elements from the top bands of the time. The thunder of the Pixies, the mope rage of Nirvana, the political shout of Rage Against the Machine, and the swagger of the Red Hot Chili Peppers are a few of the components of New Politics' sound. Along with fleeting traces of post-'90s alt-rock (Strokes, Killers, Franz Ferdinand), the group adds an admirable dose of energy to the proceedings. ~ Tim Sendra
