About the Author

Originally born on Staten Island, New York, Steven Gembara has been an avid collector of New York City street furniture for just over a decade. With an interest that stems to his early childhood, Gembara dedicated many years of his free time to study and learn the history of traffic control in the Big Apple. He would eventually compile a valuable amount of information into a book, which he first wrote and published in 2015. Since then, Gembara has been widely active to continue to share his enthusiasm and knowledge to a wide audience. He enjoyed some initial success after the publication of his first book, such as being featured in Antique Backroads magazine in 2017 and in popular online blogs, such as Forgotten New York and the New York History Blog. Gembara would also occasionally lecture and display portions of his personal collection to the general public through the City Reliquary of Brooklyn, New York.
