About the Author

David Harrell is an elementary school teacher and a teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children of all ages from birth to 21. He has worked in the field of education and hearing loss since 1993, both as a certified ASL interpreter and as a licensed DHH teacher. He is also the author of not only this developing book series (so far "Nothing Special" and "Look at ME!"), but also a song ("Without Words"), two novels ("Flawless Inc." and "Once"), and a play ("Through Ben's Eyes"). David currently also has several other creative endeavors in the works.

Matthew Schufman studied art and design at the University of Minnesota and currently teaches art at Northpoint Elementary in Blaine, MN. As a small child, he was enamored with book illustrations and the feeling of being taken into another world through a picture or artwork. Finding inspiration from vintage cartoons and illustrators Gary Taxali, Jesse LeDoux, and Dallas Clayton - Schufman bridges classic illustration style into modern existence. Since graduation, Matthew has worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator, and met David through their shared work as educators.
