This was an exciting story to read. It's about a man named Cam on a search and rescue team. He falls  for a fellow rescuer who is in a relationship with another guy. The woman Cam is attractted to, Lainey is dealing with a strange and threatening situation. It was a very thrilling storyline.

A Sizzling Search and Rescue Romance When Cam and Lainey meet on a search and rescue mission, they're both hit by a shot of, if not love at first sight, certainly lust.  Unfortunately the road is not going to be a smooth one for the pair. Lainey is already attached and has problems of her own to deal with and poor Cam is left pining in the background. A few months later, the pair manage to meet up again and this time it's quite clear that it's Lainey that needs rescuing - but from who? Nasty threats, arson attacks - all these things and more bring out a protective streak in Cam and as the danger increases, so does the passion - burning up the very pages! Can these two very independent people make room in their lives for each other? Another wonderful five star read from Fire Mountain author Shirleen Davie and the good news is there's to be another in the series ! Can't wait.

Already a huge fan of Shirleen Davies' work, and this contemporary series in particular, I know going in I'm in for a treat. Every book released thus far has been amazing - she never lags, never grows stale. But "One More Day", in particular, exceeded even my already high expectations. The chemistry between Lainey and Cam is sizzling. Yet what I really loved was that each were individuals first and foremost, each with their own ambitions. What made their coming together particularly cathartic was their commonalities. More than just lust and passion, which they had in spades, I got the sense that these were kindred souls, two people who were completely in-tune with each other... once they allowed their attraction to flourish, of course. In true MacLaren spirit, even if Cam was only a MacLaren through marriage, this couple, as stubborn as all of their predecessors, did not take the easy way. I enjoyed watching them grapple with their attraction versus the drama surrounding each of their lives. I will definitely be rereading this at the earliest possible convenience.

“One More Day” starts out as a contemporary romance before suddenly (and unexpectedly) twisting into a suspense novel, and both the characters and the plot make this entry in the MacLarens of Fire Mountain series highly enjoyable.  Cam first sees Lainey when they’re both racing against a forest fire in a search and rescue mission—he’s instantly captivated by her before she sweeps out of his life again, lost in the hustle of the mission. He’s not interested in dating but can’t keep his thoughts off of her, and she returns to normal life with her haughty attorney fiancé (Robert) with thoughts of Cam in her mind as well. Robert doesn’t understand her love of SAR, and when Lainey breaks it off with him to pursue a long-held dream he’s confused and angry. The plot progresses and Lainey and Cam first begin to correspond by email…but Lainey doesn’t seem to be welcome in Fire Mountain, and the danger to her life rises at the same time her passion for Cam is intensifying.  This is the second book I’ve read so far about the MacLarens (the first was a Western historical romance) and I really do enjoy Shirleen Davies’ writing. The plots are tight and exciting, and the characters—the most important part in a romance—are spot on in terms of personality and attraction to each other. In “One More Day,” I liked that Cam and Lainey both have their own ambitions and dreams—they’re wildly attracted to each other, but they have their own lives and pursuits that make them interesting individuals to read about. Cam is handsome and brave, nursing a secret ambition to be a man like his father, while Lainey is sweet but quietly strong. The supporting characters are also memorable and well-done.  I would recommend “One More Day” to readers who like romance and romantic suspense, and who are looking for a series to get into that features likeable characters and varied plots.

I don't know what I like most from this book! It has all of the romance, suspense and drama that you could want and a very well written story line to tie it all together! I have been a big fan of Shirleen Davies since I read her first book and this book has cemented that dedication I hold for her; she is an incredible author and an even better storyteller. Her foray into the contemporary romance section is welcomed by this reader; she has a way of telling a story that keeps you interested and never bored or let down by the ending. One More Day gives us a glimpse into the lives of two people destined to be together even though their separate lives say otherwise. Cam is ambitious and has his life mapped out while Lainey is just the same but has an added dose of drama and intrigue in her own life. When the two of them meet, you can see the sparks and you know that this book is going to be an exciting ride. Not only are their lives interesting, but they are also search and rescue team members which adds an extra ingredient to the story that makes the reader wonder what will happen next and where will that part of the story go. Lainey wants Cam and Cam wants to help Lainey. That in itself is what makes the book interesting because you really can't tell if they will be together or not. Most books in this genre give it away early on and you already know what is going to happen; same story, different town. Not so with One More Day! I really couldn't tell and I even had some doubts in the middle of the book if they were going to be together or not and if this story will carry on into the next book. That showcases the talent the author has and it makes me want to continue reading her works.

The book description doesn't begin to tell the story about how these two people, Cam and Lainey, intertwine their lives together. Their relationship reminds me of magnets that when placed one way, they strongly push apart, but when placed correctly, the are drawn to one another and there is nothing that can stop them. In One More Day, this type of relationship is very evident and sets the stage for a story of intrigue and desire that holds the reader's attention right to the end.  The main character is a step outside the usual MacLaren box for the author but it shows off her incredible writing talent. Like the MacLaren's of past novels, Cam Sinclair is strong-willed, dedicated to his work ethic and willing to create a life with someone he loves. This makes him perfect for Lainey and even her story provides us with enough entertainment to keep us hooked. When their two worlds come together, the story gets even more intense for the reader. For all of the action, excitement and romance you can handle, Shirleen Davies delivers in every one of her books and One More Day is exactly the type of contemporary romance novel that we need  for our reading enjoyment.

In ‘One More Day,’ Cameron Sinclair and Lainey are easily one of the most romantic couples I’ve read so far from Shirleen Davies. There is an intense and strong energy between them that just electrifies the pages. As they try to sort through their feelings for each other, there is plenty of other things going on that comes with both of them being a part of the Search and Rescue team. Along with that, Lainey has her own obstacles from her past to conquer. There is lots of suspense to be had as well, only starting with the threats that Lainey soon finds herself getting after relocating to northern Arizona. Even with her handsome hero to help her out, Lainey is independent and determined to hold her ground and protect what’s important to her to the best of her own abilities. This was a really enjoyable read from start to finish, and I look forward to reading more from the MacLarens of Fire Mountain!
