Gr 9 Up—Schell, a professor and director of Cybercrime Initiatives at Laurentian University in Ontario, Canada, has written many works on hacking and IT topics. This volume sets out to introduce online health and safety topics in a way that young adult students can understand. It contains eight chapters, organized into two sections: online issues involving harm to persons and macrosystem issues regarding online health and safety. Issues in the first section include identity theft, cyberbullying, online predators, and addiction, while the second section addresses subjects including social media, health records, censorship, and copyright. Each chapter, ranging from 40 to 60 pages, contains an overview, definitions of key concepts, and a Q&A with an expert and covers current problems and controversies and potential treatments, interventions, and solutions for the issue. Each chapter concludes with a hefty references list. The volume succeeds in providing a digestible overview on topics that can be technologically, legally, and morally complex, which sets it apart from other works on these concepts.
