What happens when a boxer finds chemistry with a geek?

Parker Brown can’t believe she needs to hire a fake boyfriend. When she landed her dream job in renewable energy, she thought she’d be entering a world at the forefront of progressive thinking. But the head boss prefers to promote employees who are “settled.” Thankfully, she’s found the perfect candidate, a fellow intellectual looking for some quick cash. What Parker gets is his protective big brother—Rhys Morgan. The tall, muscled ex-boxer with a foul mouth shows up just as her boss does, and now she’s stuck with the manipulative jerk.

Responsibility weighs heavily on Rhys. Now permanently out of the ring, he’s trying to hold together his late father’s gym and keep his younger brother, Dean, on the straight and narrow. To save Dean from himself, Rhys takes his place, ready to give this society girl a piece of his mind. Instead, he finds an opportunity. Even though they can hardly stand each other, posing as Parker’s boyfriend is a win-win deal. She gets to keep her job, and he’ll charm her star-struck boss into sponsoring his gym.

Problem is, they can barely keep their hands off each other. And what started as an easy deal isn’t so easy anymore. Because what future can a rough ex-boxer, afraid to open his heart, and a polished society geek, who has sworn off real relationships, possibly have?

They say opposites attract. These opposites are about to combust on impact.

Outmatched is utterly adorable with quirky characters and a whole lot of feels. While Parker and Rhys may be complete opposites on the work front their core values are surprisingly similar. They tend to put others first even at their own expense. With their initial meeting being a tad unconventional considering Parker hired Rhys’ brother, Dean, to be her fake boyfriend in order to secure her current employment. Although this now falls on Rhys’ shoulders following their confrontation and Rhys requiring the money Parker is willing to pay. There are sparks between Rhys and Parker from the beginning, even though they are both reluctant to entire into a relationship due to the external pressures they both face. However, the more time they spend together, they realise it would be a shame not to explore their compatibility for real. The plot is multi-layered covering misogynistic work environments, the corruption of power and wealth alongside the very real danger of contact sports, in this case, boxing. The characters including the peripheral ones are utterly endearing, and hopefully, the writing partnership between Samantha and Kirsten will continue and bring us more stories set in the Lights Out world. Although there is a touch of angst within the narrative, it was obvious from the backstory and therefore, was easily moved on from in other words I did not feel the need to get stabby with any of the characters A heartwarming romance perfect for snuggling with on a dark night.

Really enjoyed this story or enemies to lovers. I would also say that it is strongly emphasising how much opposites attract. Rhys and Parker are nothing but opposites and it is a joy to read the two of them fall for each other. The twist in the story line for Parker also happens quite early on in the story and its interesting to see how this plays out with the lessor known characters in the story. Thoroughly enjoyed the story and their romance, it is steamy, sexy and also really sweet. In a way I feel like we see Parker really help Rhys find his way. It has everything you're after of a contemporary romance and also when these two authors combine, who knows the brilliance that they can create. It is such a easy read and I couldn't even tell the difference in the writing between the two authors. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a great holiday read that you will not want to put down! Look forward to the two authors coming together again!

Wow! This was such an adorable, sweet, sassy, hot, and opposites attract romantic story. There were times when real life was calling me and I didn't want to let go of Parker and Rhys. Now I don't think I have ever read Kristen Callihan before but this brain child with Samantha Young is exactly what I needed in my life. I hope they venture to tell more tales together set within this universe... *hint, hint* you dropped enough breadcrumbs in the story to make it happen. The door is wide open please step on through. Parker is this super smart big brained, minimal carbon footprint, sassy woman in a small package on a mission to land her dream job. Except even at this time and age unfortunately there are still some jobs not fully accessible to a single woman. To land her spot in male dominated field she must be (and I try to contain my fury here) in a relationship and/or married. Hence, enter Dean, well no actually strike that... enter Rhys, Dean's big brother, failing gym owner, and ex-professional heavyweight boxer with the world on his shoulders. In trying to stop his little brother become an escort for Parker somehow he takes his spot in being pretend boyfriend with monetary incentive. Seems like a big win for all - Parker will get her dream job and Rhys will get some money and possibly sponsorship to save his legacy - the gym. Except both get so much more once they realize how well they are together and how perfect they are. Once they both gather enough courage to admit that to each other, of course. There is major drama for both parties and I feel like it ties off perfectly giving our MCs a well deserved happily ever after. And if Parker doesn't want Rhys I will gladly take him from her hands... if only. If you are looking for sassy banter, great characters, and even sexier times then look no further than this duo sensation release.

A quirky, sassy nerd girl meets a foul mouth, smart talking brute of a man in a sweet, funny and electric story. This is my first story with Samantha Young and I am a fan of Kristen Callihan, so I jumped at the chance to read this. I am sooo glad I did. Parker is quiet, a bit uptight and a complete people-pleaser. She is working in a male dominated field and she sticks out like a sore thumb. Everyone in the company has a significant other and her boss is big on his employees being in a committed relationship. It shows longer term potential. So Parker decides to hire a guy to pose as her fake boyfriend to help her advance in her job, basically to be able to keep her job. Finding the perfect mixture of smart, sexy and nerdy Parker finds Dean Morgan. Only when the time comes for them to meet, she's met with Rhys Morgan. A guy she never saw coming. He's broody, intense, foul mouth and not like a guy she would ever date. But there is something about him that she can't quite get out of her mind. Rhys Morgan retired A-list boxer who is struggling to stay above the water with his business. He's always taken care of his family, but with the business in trouble he's out of moves. When his unemployed brother tells him about his new job, Rhys decides he isn't letting Dean take that chance. Rhys goes for it and is ready to tell off this rich, snobby socialite that she can't buy his brother. However, we he meets Parker, he is immediately smitten with her. She's not like the girls he normal goes for. She's prim and proper, but sees a fiesty smart mouth side to her. He decides to step in and become the boyfriend. What could go wrong? Oh my these two loved! I loved the banter, the awkward moments, they were complete opposites in every way but they connected in an undeniable way. Once they both let go...Boom magic! I loved how they seem to just get one another and the perfect balance they seem to give one another was electric. Parker calmed Rhys storm and Rhys brought Parker out of her shell. Yes!! I don't know who wrote what part, but the writing was on point! The story was fun, funny, sexy and a bit angsty a few times. I am so checking out books from Samantha Young after reading this. This was fantastic and a great introduction to her writing. As always I love Kristen Callihan and this just made me love her writing even more.

I always love contemporary romance from Samantha Young and the synopsis of this grabbed me right away! The story was sweet, and I liked getting both main characters' points of view. While Parker did irritate me a bit, Rhys had his own issues that bothered me at times as well. I know that a lot of that is the drama of a romance, as I've mentioned in reviews before, and it's probably what kept me at a 4 instead of 5 stars. It was an easy read, and definitely had its really good moments. I think this is my first by Kristen Callihan, and I'll be sure to read more of her books in the future! As for Samantha Young, she's still at the top of my auto-buy authors list.

This book was a bit of a slow start for me, but it did end up hooking me and not letting go. Although I liked Parker and Rhys, initially I didn’t feel the chemistry between them. Once I felt the connection, I enjoyed them together, whether they were arguing or getting along. There was a good bit of drama, though nothing over the top. It was handled well and everything wrapped up nicely. Samantha and Kristen make an excellent writing duo and I would definitely read another collaboration by them.

4-4.5 STARS! I love the fake relationship troupe and this writing duo knocked it out of the park. I love their words individually but combined they are a force to be reckoned with. Parker Brown needs a fake boyfriend to appease her boss that she is in a serious committed relationship. Enter Rhys Morgan... the ex-boxer with a dirty mouth who has come in place of his brother. What they dont expect is something more than just irritation and contempt for one another... that chemistry that is palpable from the start, the need and want to protect the other from the hurt, insecurities and doubts, and when it comes to matters of the heart, the feeling that they have never felt so invested in someone else before (or in the case of Parker, after so many years to finally find that spark again). I loved their interactions, his nickname for her, their different POVs so you could see what the other was thinking and just feel MORE. I hated seeing the inequality that is so present in life today between men and women and Parker's awful boss and his scheming. Above all, I loved their protective feelings toward one another... the care and that something special that only two hearts could recognize when they find their other half. This writing duo was so much fun to read together and I hope we get more from them in the future.

When authors decide to write a book together, regardless of whether they've proven to be bestselling writers or not, there's never a guarantee that it's going to click the same way their solo efforts have. Maybe that's pessimistic of me, but experience has taught me this, so naturally, with my excitement over Kristen Callihan and Samantha Young penning a rom-com comes a bit of trepidation. Fortunately Callihan and Young surpassed any and all expectations, coming up with an honest-to-goodness hilarious and heartfelt story about opposites who find common ground and, of course, love and how what starts out as fake becomes very real. The whole enemies-to-lovers vibe was present, so that delicious tension thrummed between Rhys and Parker, making the anticipation palpable. There's an ease in reading this novel, and even with my familiarity with the writing of both Callihan and Young, I couldn't distinguish who wrote what, which is yet another reason why this was such a standout read, as well as one of the standouts in a crowded field of new releases this week. I'm awarding Outmatched five-plus stars. ♥

It’s been a while since I’ve lived and breathed a story. I was actually pained every time I had to put this book down. At just over 55% I had to actually deal with life and be an adult, I begrudged every minute of it. When I finished, and yes, it was very much a sprint for me, I needed their story that badly, all I wanted to do was start the book from the beginning again. Yes. It was that good. You’ve read the synopsis I’m sure. You know the basics. I’m just here to say, buy it! Super hot, super cute, super alpha, ex boxer Ryhs Morgan (what a name), who unexpectedly falls for super intelligent, straight laced eco-warrior, Parker Brown, proving that opposites really do attract. Ryhs is foul mouthed and on the brink of bankruptcy. Parker is his golden ticket to solvency. Together they can help each other, and they do. In the best of ways. Both so very protective of each other, and completely over the top cute without realising it. The story is funny, sweet, truly addictive and was a joy to read. I cannot recommend this book enough, if I could give a book more than 5 stars, this would definitely be the one. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.

I regret buying this book, I couldn't get passed the political agenda the authors kept spinning and the environmental and feminism tirades were boring and way over done. I love Kristen Callihan's other books so maybe this was a one off because of the other writer but do yourself a favor and skip this one.
