Overview

The Andrews Sisters returned to active duty as a duo in this musical, which bears a certain similarity to the movies they made during World War II, with a score by Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman, who spent most of their career writing for Walt Disney movies, that apes the polka and boogie-woogie styles of the Andrews' pop hits of the '40s. Unfortunately, it's all a bit too broad and knowing -- "The Good-Time Girl" is a warning against venereal disease, and "Wait for Me, Marlena" is a parody of Marlene Dietrich -- and doesn't match the era or the material it simultaneously salutes and satirizes. [Originally released in 1974, Over Here! was reissued on CD in 1992.] ~ William Ruhlmann
