This book is everything. I read it through once, but I keep going back and referencing things mentioned, and will probably go through and read it again highlighting and noting pages with especially useful information! Everything that Marcus put in this book is 100% doable, and I love the format of the book. Each chapter is about owning some part of your day, but it takes you through what the problem is, how to address it, and the "prescription". It then goes even further to recap everything and gives takeaways from that chapter. I've read other books that would fall in the same category, but this book seems the most practical and actionable than any other I've come across. 100% recommend!
I've had this tab open on my cloud reader since getting it 3 weeks ago. I am regularly getting back into it when I have to give myself a break from grading/teaching. I've brought some of the wisdom from this book into my high school ELA courses for discussion about how a little tweaks in life can create a much more solid foundation. I teach juniors and seniors, so they're more than willing to challenge the status quo with course work. I am going to create assignments for each chapter to help fortify how to this knowledge can be applied mindfully. Get this book and start making the changes slowly and you'll feel a difference. Just the morning tweaks of his morning water, workout, and sun exposure added to the cold 3 minutes of deep breathing has changed my need for caffeine. I went from needed it all day to be an effective teacher to only adding it in around 9:30 to bump me up when my cortisol goes down. Just an outstanding way approach to taking control of your life.
Completely one of the best books I've ever read, I can't put it down. Extremely useful, helpful, and motivating!
