The Catholic community of Washington, DC, has grown and changed dramatically since 1939, when Pope Pius XII separated the city from the Archdiocese of Baltimore. About the Author

Christina Cox is the founder of the National Museum of Catholic Art and Library. On May 18, 1992, she met Pope John Paul II at the Vatican and received His Holiness's personal blessing to build the first National Catholic Museum in the United States. She collects religious artworks, books, documents, and artifacts relating to the history of Catholicism.
