About the Author

Michael G. Williams writes what he terms "wry horror": stories of vampires and other monsters that never forget the absurd humor of the macabre. He is the author of Perishables (2012 Laine Cunningham Novel Award) and its sequel Tooth & Nail as well as several short stories.

Michael also maintains The Perishables Project, an open-source publishing blog where he documents the ideas he entertains for promotion, his own publishing efforts and the results of ideas he receives from others.

Michael's fiction is written almost exclusively in first person (the exception seems to be this bio), favored for its power to build a connection between the reader and the narrator. He most enjoys stories in which two or more genres suffer a head-on collision and he attempts to make a mess of conventions in whatever he writes.

Michael is also an avid reader, runner, cyclist and gamer. He is a native of Asheville, North Carolina and now lives in Durham, NC, with his partner, two cats and more and better friends than he probably deserves. Michael is a brother in St. Anthony Hall and Mu Beta Psi.
