About the Author

Sahba Shayani is Senior Lecturer in Persian at the University of Oxford. He holds a PhD in Persian literature from the University of California, Los Angeles. His research focuses on the role of women and women's agency in premodern Persian epic romance poetry, specifically Ferdowsi’s Shāhnāmeh, Gorgāni’s Vis o Rāmin and Nezāmi’s Khosrow o Shirin.

Jake Jackson has written, edited and contributed to over 20 books on mythology and folklore. Related works include studies of Babylonian creation myths, the philosophy of time and William Blake's use of mythology in his visionary literature.
