The program begins with a summary of the crazy financial approaches we learn as children, the bad advice we get as adults, and the goofy ways we manage money just to feel good. Moving slowly, the program offers its tips and suggestions in a scattershot pattern, rather than as a plan of action. As an overview of money management basics, it’s pleasant enough and therefore a good way for neophytes to become familiar with such basics as saving for retirement, investing, home buying, debt reduction, taxation, and insurance. Brett Barry is an effective interpreter of the plain language in this primer; he has a wonderful sound and doesn’t attempt to make the program more than it is. T.W. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine
