Pick Apart My Brain and You Will Find
Horny, hopeful, depressed, and longing for love. These states of being make up the characteristics of the emotional young adult woman in her 20's. Pick Apart My Brain and You Will Find acts as a collection of poems ranging from utterly confessional to quietly blunt. The raw thoughts expressed in each stanza include the swaying everyday mentalities of one's early 20's, trying to navigate and align who we are with who we want to become.

About the Author

Madeleine Misner is a confessional poet and macabre short-story writer who grew up in both the beach towns of Los Angeles and the suburbs of the Bay Area before returning to LA for college. She is a recent graduate of Loyola Marymount University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English, with an emphasis in creative writing. There, she became editor-in-chief of the creative writing journal LA Miscellany, and in 2024 her poem "Pick Apart My Brain and You Will Find" won the first place prize for the Denise L. Scott Memorial Poetry Award. In her free time, she reads muder-myster books, goes on hikes on the hill across her street, and curates playlists to listen to while she runs.
