I enjoyed this very much. I got some chuckles out of some of the happenings. Like Elli's unorthodox way of getting out of places she's checking out when she's not supposed to. Will Elli ever get her PI license? She tries hard to come up with who did the murder. Looking forward to the next one in the series.

Kendel Lynn has given us another well written, humorous, engaging woman in Elliott Lisbon. I am always on the lookout for and greatly entertained by a Kendel Lynn book. If you haven't read this series , my question to you is why? Trust me, I really think you'll like it. FTC Full Disclosure - A copy of this book was sent to me by the publisher in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review.

Title: Pot Luck - Elliott Lisbon Mystery Book 4 Author: Kendel Lynn Published: 12-13-2016 Publisher: Henery Press Pages: 232 Genre: Mystery, Thrillers & Suspense Sub Genre: Women Sleuths; Cozy Mystery; Amateur Sleuths ISBN: 13: 9781635111255 ASIN: B01M1A2NLX Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley Rating: 4.5 Stars I received a copy of "Pot Luck" from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review. Description From the Publisher: It’s time for the Irish Spring at the Ballantyne Foundation, and charity director/PI-in-training Elliott Lisbon kicks off the annual Pot of Gold Cook-Off in shamrock style. Twenty chefs compete for the corned beef and cabbage crown but only one can win the title. The odds improve when one chef goes missing…until Elli finds the Ballantyne’s own Chef Carmichael standing over the body with a knife. With pug puppies, Colonel Mustard and Mrs. White, by her side, Elli searches both sides of coastal living for a clue to the killer. From million dollar condos to a run-down trailer park, the evidence pits her against sexy Nick Ransom, and the case gets hotter than a handful of peppercorns. Something about the case smells funny—and it has nothing to do with the cook-off. The luck of the Irish is nowhere in sight, but if Elli can’t crack this one open, Chef’s goose will get cooked for good. My Review: Elli is a character with many facets. Director of the Ballentyne Foundation, Private Investigator in training and foster mother to two adorable Pug babies. She and the other characters living and working on Sea Pine Island are likable and believable. The plot of Pot Luck centers around a cook off and the 20 chefs competing. There is also a sub-plot dealing with an old friend turned nemesis. With many twist and turns the reader is glued to the story from the first word to the last. Ms. Lynn writes in such away as to make you feel the sea breeze on your face and in the case of "Pot Luck" you can almost taste the cabbage and corned beef cooking out back on the Ballentyne lawn. The well developed characters and laid out story line the reader can not help but enjoy this book.

This is the fourth book in the Elliott Lisbon series as well as two novellas, but the first one I read (or listened to in this case). I had not difficulty following the story of Elli and her friends, but will go back and read the others, as I really enjoyed this book. Elliott is working on her PI license and only needs 4000 more hours of investigative work. She fits in the hours while working as charity director for the Ballantyne Foundation. Their spring fundraiser, The Irish Fling, is sponsoring a corned beef and cabbage cook-off. While looking for her favourite corned beef entry, she stumbles across Chef Carmichael standing over his sister-in-law, Lola with a bloody knife. Lola is also a friend of Elliott and is at the event on her invitation. Chef confesses to the murder and does not want investigation. has her investigating the murder of a local trailer park owner. Elliot knows Chef is not a killer so starts to investigate the crime as well as find the reason why Chef is taking the blame. This plunges Elliot into the chaos of the Carmichael family's affairs as well as learning about the trailer park Lola owns, with all its various renters and issues. Not only is she investigating the crime (without a lot of support from the police), but Lola has left her two pugs to Elliott's boss who is out of town, so she has to keep them until their return. Things are not going well at work either with a lot of animosity between directors. When Lola's daughter, Lucy arrives in town, Elliott tries to mend fences with her old friend who is a PI in Texas. There are several suspects and clues sprinkled throughout the story. Elliott busy investigating all the guest chefs and trailer park renters. This is a relatively short story that moves quickly and I enjoyed meeting the various residents of Sea Pine Island, South Carolina and look forward to finding out more about them as I go back and read the rest of this series.

This is a great book; this is the fourth book in the Elliott Lisbon Mystery series written by Kendel Lynn. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

There's more bad karma going on at the Ballantyne Foundation and Elliot Lisbon is out to save the reputation of the foundation and her job. This has been a great series and this book is no exception. Elliott just can't help herself but get involved much to the chagrin of her Lieutenant boyfriend. Naturally there are lots of suspects and quite the number of quirky characters. For such a small island, there are a lot nefarious characters. Some who The madcap adventures that ensue are hilarious, while also at times, being dangerous. I always find this series to be fun, entertaining and enjoyable. Thanks to Henery Press for approving my request and to Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit that it was the adorable cover that first drew my attention and if that what the whole book I would have been satisfied, but of course there was so much more to this fascinating mystery. The central character of the series, Elliot Lisbon is working on the hours she needs for her private investigator license under the mentorship of the police department. That does not meant however that she gets as much cooperation that she wants. For this case, the Foundation's chef is accused of murdering a friend of the family so the case is truly close to Elli's heart. With no help from the accused or from the daughter of the victim and well aware of the danger she faces, Elliot refuses to give up. I enjoyed Elliot and her friends but I didn't have the close attachment that I have with my favorite cozy characters, but that is not surprising since this is a female detective novel rather than a cozy mystery. Even Elliot sees that she holds back, except with the puppies, the Ballantynes, and her best friend Sid. I see some emotional opening in this book and hope to see more in future books since I really like these characters. Although I own a couple of books from the series in my humongous TBR stack, this is the first book I have read by Kendel Lynn and it worked just fine as a standalone, but Pot Luck has something special that I look forward to connecting with again. I requested an received a copy of this book via Netgalley. The review is voluntary and expresses my opinion. I review all books that I enjoy and this one, I thoroughly enjoyed Pot Luck!
