Preventing and Coping with Stress under COVID-19
Up to March 15, 2021, there are 119 603 761 confirmed COVID-19 cases across 223 countries, areas or territories in the world. Among them, 2 649 722 patients have been confirmed deaths. People's daily lives, social lives, jobs and incomes are severely impacted so that the public, especially the elderly and frontline workers, are suffering of actual psychological stress under the COVID-19 pandemic, including loneliness, anxiety, depression, phobia, etc. It is focused to control the spread of the virus and treat the patients. However, people pay little attention to dealing with the stress. In this book, based on an integrated model I have presented coping strategies to care vulnerable people, patients and their families physically, emotionally, cognitively and spiritually. The aims of this book are to educate the public with knowledge of preventing and coping with the stress from COVID-19, encourage people to make their own contributions to community mental health, and promote the level of the community mental health.
This knowledge will help the public, disease-prone populations, mental health workers, teachers, community workers and pastors to effectively respond to the emergency mental stress and crisis caused by COVID-19 and prevent possible long-term effects and harms of disease.
