Boomerang was one of my favorite feel-good romances of 2014. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on REBOUND!  I loved this book! Rebound was a sexy, romantic, tension-filled, happy romance (all the things!!) that left me smiling at the end. Veronica Rossi and Lorin Oberweger are such a great writing duo. I hope they keep working together because they are making me a very happy reader. They are taking the new adult genre to a wonderful place. Before Adam and Alison meet, both attend a Halloween party planned by the Boomerang company. At the party, Zorro and Catwoman share a heated and passionate exchange filed with kisses that is totally scorching hot. I mean, really!!! Their connection is instantaneous with Zorro sharing personal things with Catwoman that he doesn’t share with anyone. Their little bubble bursts when Cookie (yes, she’s back!) walks in on them, quite literally pulling the masks off both of them. To their horror, Adam and Alison realize that they went too far, unknowingly crossing the professional line. Now they are forced to work together in a professional environment, knowing they can’t act on any of their attraction. I was hooked on this book from the very beginning.  Adam and Alison’s tryst at the Halloween party set the perfect tone for the rest of the book, laying this palpable romantic tension that really moved the story along. I was dying to learn more about Adam and his past after reading Boomerang. The reader finds out what happened to him in Rebound.  It was so heartbreaking and really added a lot of depth to his character. So many times in new adult, the focus is so much on the romance and the character development gets lost. This isn’t the case here. The authors beautifully explore Alison and Adam’s pasts, making the reader understand the characters and the choices they make. Knowing their background and the character’s interests made the characters three dimensional. I was a little worried about how Alison would come across since she was portrayed as the woman who broke Ethan’s heart. But I loved her! The authors did a great job of redeeming her character in this book. It was clear that Alison harbored a lot of guilt for how things ended between her and Ethan and I liked that that whole situation was explained from her side. I really respected her character by the end of the novel for what she did for Adam and how she treated him. “I get what it’s like to be in on the first stages of something great. In this moment, with all of these people, I want so desperately for Adam to have everything he wants. I just hope, more than ever, that I don’t discover anything that gets in the way of that dream.” What I loved about this book was that even though Adam and Alison bonded so quickly and had strong sexual chemistry, it didn’t feel like insta-y. It felt real. Their relationship was actually a very slow build. The authors spent a lot of time spent letting the characters get to know each other and emotionally fall for one another, which I loved.  Like in Boomerang, this book was sexy without being raunchy. All of the steamy moments were done tastefully but it was still hot, and I really appreciated that. I also loved all of the secondary characters. Getting to meet Adam’s brother was a huge bonus, since Bounce, book three in the series, is about him and Mia’s friend Skyler. And of course, I loved Cookie. Though her scenes were brief she made an impression. 4 stars

I am LOVING this series so much! It's fun and cute and I just love the way these two ladies write! I really enjoyed reading Alison and Adam's story, even though once again I thought I'd die from the tension! I just wanted them together! I love how real and vulnerable these two are upon first meeting at Mia's Halloween party. Both are masked so they don't know who the other is, but there's a freedom in that anonymity and it really gives us a glimpse early on of who these characters are. I loved that. Once they discover each other's true identities, they are forced to take a step back and maintain some distance, as Alison will be working closely with Adam to determine if his company is worth her father's investment money. I did NOT like Alison's father at all. He just rubbed me the wrong way and I didn't like the power he held over Alison, making her feel like she needed to get back in his good graces for having made some mistakes in college. Things escalate in this department, as Alison's father begins bugging her to find out more about Adam, when it's clear he's hiding something big that he doesn't wish to reveal. The conflict in this one was pretty predictable, but that didn't bother me too much. The one thing that did however, was the fact that Adam and Alison's resolution of this conflict happened kind of out of the blue. I even went back and reread a few pages because I thought I missed something. They are on the outs with one another and then all of a sudden Adam is over it and I guess I just missed that going from point A to point B. I did like seeing the Boomerang crew and that we got to see Mia and Ethan happy and together. I am glad things weren't awful between them and Alison. Alison actually wasn't the cold-hearted, ice queen that Ethan portrayed her to be and I genuinely liked her in this book. Sure, she should have told her dad what was up long before she did, but oh well. The Adam and Alison scenes were just so wonderful in this book. I loved how peaceful they were together and that they genuinely enjoyed one another's company. They really learn a lot about one another just from their reactions and how they light up when talking about things they love. I am excited for Adam's brother's book next. We meet Grey here and he is a wild child who likes to raise some hell. It will be fun to see who they match him up with! If you're in the mood for some fun, sweet, and cute New Adult reads, definitely pick this series up. I am kicking myself for not reading them sooner!

This book was freaking awesome! Exactly what I needed after a horrible day at the office. Although it had it's heartbreaking moments filled with anguish and gut-wrenching emotion, for the most part if was fun, hilarious and just a brilliant feel good story about love, courage and acceptance. Ali and Adam were explosive together and their first meeting was smoking. I loved the flirtatious playfulness that brought them together, and even when it seemed there could be nothing more between them, that fun side reared it's head from time to time, especially at the team building, which was when I saw a much deeper connection between them. I was so in love with these two characters and I rooted for them from the beginning. When it looked like Ali's father was going to steal away their happiness, I wanted to slap him - no wait, that would have been going too easy on him. He deserved to have everything taken away from him, and not only for what he'd done to Ali and Adam but for every despicable thing he'd done to his family over the years. I'm glad he got what he deserved in the end and everyone else, including Ali's mother, were happier for it. If you are looking for a book that will lift your spirits, make you laugh, and even cry at times, this is a top ten pick!

Last year, I fell in love with Boomerang. The writing was fresh. It was sexy and I adored the characters. I was thrilled to see this series continue and, while Rebound didn’t quite grab me the way Boomerang did, it was still a fun book. Rebound is the story of Adam and Alison. We met both of these characters in Boomerang. I was excited to get Adam’s story. I had some reservations about Alison, because I only knew her as the girl who cheated on Ethan. But still, I jumped right into this book. I hoped she could be redeemed… and I wanted to see her interact with Baby Ryan Gosling. I did like Adam and Alison together quite a bit. The setup was similar to the first book in that they met, clicked and then learned they couldn’t pursue a relationship because of something work-related. Here it was that Alison and her family were potential investors in his ventures. But they had an ulterior motive, too. If I’m honest, I didn’t love this. Alison’s dad was seriously shady and she was along for the ride, totally as his puppet. Adam worked hard to get where he was and I didn’t like to see him manipulated. It was a good setup for the book, but it didn’t do much to endear Alison to me. Until she started to see what kind of man her father was and she grew a spine, that is. While this storyline frustrated me, I liked how it was all resolved. These characters might have been flawed, but they worked so well together. I liked how they challenged each other. It was because of their connection that they each found a way to embrace things that happened in their separate pasts and find a way to move forward. I enjoyed their chemistry and banter. This book gave good slow burn, but I found myself wanting more schemxy times. Rebound was a good follow-up to Boomerang. I assume this series will continue and I will definitely be interested to see who gets the next book. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review.

This book was jointly reviewed by myself and my co-blogger, Becca! THE STORY: Lisa: Boomerang was one of my favorite NA books of last year. So of course my excitement over reading Rebound was totally explainable. I loved Boomerang’s uniqueness, the ease at which the story progressed, and the admirable writing style of this duo that I quickly fell in love with. So of course my hopes for Rebound were pretty sky high. Luckily, I was not let down. This book was everything Boomerang was, causing this series to remain a favorite of mine. Rebound starts where Boomerang left off. Though this is mostly the story of Adam and Alison, we do get glimpses into the lives of the other Boomerang employees, including Ethan and Mia (who we met in Boomerang.) Adam and Alison run into each other by chance at a party and instantly have a connection… until they realize who the other one actually is. From that point forward they fight their connection. You see, they are in the midst of a business deal. Alison’s extremely wealthy father wants to invest in Adam’s very successful business, and he sends Alison in to dig up the dirt on Adam before they make the deal. Adam is fighting his feelings for Alison for a couple reasons. First, it is strictly a business deal, and he doesn’t want to mix business with pleasure. Also, he was severely hurt by a past relationship and refuses to fall for another woman. The torment over his past severely restricts his love life going forward. These two have a lot on their minds… including the attraction for each other that’s very clearly difficult to ignore. Becca: I agree with Lisa completely! I recently purchased the ebook of Boomerang after Lisa and several others told me how much they loved it! Oh boy I was NOT disappointed! I absolutely loved it! See my review for Boomerang here. I requested Rebound before I even finished Boomerang because I was so excited to continue this series! Rebound is different from Boomerang, but just as good! Although this book has it’s own dose of humor, it has a different tone than Boomerang. In Boomerang Ethan and Mia are a bit younger, still finding themselves and both are very witty and funny. Adam and Alison are both more serious and already know where their life is headed, they are different, but in a good way. I loved that this was different, but still had the same elements of a slow burn romance! The tension and sparks between these two built and built until I couldn’t take it anymore! I actually said to Lisa “I need something to happen… like now!” and when it did Lisa said “finally!” our hearts couldn’t take it anymore! When the story really picked up steam in the second half we were giddy and smiling from ear to ear! THE CHARACTERS: Becca: I had already fallen a bit for Adam when I read Boomerang. His charisma, charm and success drew me in like a magnet. I was unsure about Alison, in some ways she was unlikable and in others I felt for her and really wanted to understand her. Throughout this whole book we learn bits and pieces about their pasts and I loved that as more was revealed the reader does learn who they are along the way. By the end, I had all of my answers and liked them both even more! People talk about feeling someone else’s pain and now I truly do. It feels like someone is tightening a wire around my heart. I want to find him and put my arms around him. I want to love him enough for two people – the girl he lost and the girl I’m trying to become. I was so excited to see all of the characters from Boomerang in this book as well. I liked so many of them, from Pippa and Paolo and even Cookie. We even get to see Mia and Ethan and swoon over how happy they are! I love the world of Boomerang that August built, it was such a cohesive and creative work environment. If it were real I would be sending them my resume :) “Most people think success is built on brilliant ideas, but they’re wrong. Success is built on brilliant ideas places in the hands of great people, and I have a talent for finding those.” One addition to this story whom we did not meet in Boomerang is Grey, Adam’s little brother. Oh boy, is he swoon worthy. So different from Adam in a bad boy, tattooed rocker kind of way. I was thrilled when I read that book 3 in this series is about him and Mia’s BFF Skyler! *fist pumps while smiling like a giddy 13 year old girl* I will definitely be reading that one! Lisa: Ha! Totally, Becca. Totally. Grey was definitely entertaining! I have a feeling we’re gonna fall even harder for him once we hear his story. I can’t wait!! We surf for different reasons Grey and I. I come to find peace. He comes to raise hell. This cast of characters is one I really enjoy. Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore companion novels in series. This is definitely one of those times. These characters are so fun, unique, and exceptionally entertaining. I really enjoyed Adam and Alison, who were complete opposites, yet realized they actually had quite a bit in common as time went on. We also get to meet Alison’s parents. And if you’re anything like me, you will love to hate her father right away. Controlling, manipulative and selfish. This man deserves to be hated. He played a huge part in this story though, as well as Alison’s mother, who really makes her presence known in the latter part of the story. A great cast to keep our interest growing. OVERALL: Lisa: As I stated, this series is one of my favorites. It’s entertaining, addicting, and very unique. This is not your typical NA book, and because of this I think it will definitely have a bigger group of fans than the usual NA romance group. With it’s share of swoons, laughing, and even anger, this story (and series) will keep you wanting more. This writing duo is one I instantly fell in love with while reading Boomerang, and I’m dying to see what they’ll have in store for us next in Grey’s story, Bounce! Becca: I am so glad Lisa got me hooked on this series because I absolutely love it too! She is also right that this is not your typical NA story and Augusts writing style is different and fun! I can’t wait to see where she takes this series next with Grey’s story as well… so yeah… what Lisa said LOL :D (Thanks to William Morrow Paperbacks for the review copy!)
