Preface

PREFACE

As a career consultant, trainer, and motivational speaker since 1984, I am readily acquainted with the significant changes the health care industry is preparing for in the New Millennium.

Because of new technology and managed care governing the industry, new jobs are being created, the need for continuing education is growing, and current job responsibilities are increasing. For example, cross-training of radiologic technologists and nuclear medicine technologists are advised, as these positions are expected to merge by the year 2000.

New chapters address the electronic resume for health care professionals seeking jobs on the Internet, as well as job trends for the New Millennium. What direction is the health care industry going?

Resumes for the Health Care Professional, Second Edition, contains over 100 samples including a full range of health care resumes from registered nurses to technologists, technicians to therapists, and dental hygienists to health information technicians. Traditional and newly created positions are addressed. This sensible step-by-step guide for creating a professionally designed resume, contains many examples from my expansive range of health care resumes. Valuable inside tips and suggestions specific to the health care industry are also included.

This book provides samples of a cover letter and thank you letter, as well as how-to information to complete the resume packet. Later chapters offer question and answer interview tips that cover specific key health care jobs and descriptions of those jobs, a section of job trends for the New Millennium, and a detailed section on job-search techniques. Chapter 10 includes more than 25 tough questions most asked in a hospital interview, the kinds of answers the interviewer is looking for, and seven key questions to ask the hospital interviewer.

Whether you're a health care professional returning to the work force, changing careers, or moving up, a college student, or a recent graduate entering the health care industry, I am confident that this book is one of the best investments you'll ever make.
