Rett (Custom Culture, #4) by Tess Oliver

Barrett "Rett" Mason has never found the one girl who can tame his wild heart. And sometimes life is just easier and less complicated without love. While working for Kingston Construction, Barrett becomes fast friends with the owner's son, Cole. They have one major thing in common-- their insatiable appetite for women. But when Barrett meets Cole's sister Finley, the easy, care-free, no commitment lifestyle he's grown used to suddenly loses its appeal. Now Barrett has met his match and the one girl who is just too damn impossible to walk out on.

For several years, Finley King has been a slave to the anxiety disorder that gripped her and kept her from enjoying life. Now with the support of her family, friends, and medication she is on the mend. But the one thing she lacks in her otherwise lush existence as a rock star's daughter is passion. Barrett Mason is about to change that...

Wow! Tess Oliver has done it again. Just when I thought I couldn't love anyone more than that Viking Clutch, she goes and write about his equally sexy younger brother Barrett aka Rett. I have to admit, I wasn't much of a Rett fan in Clutch but he started to grow on me in Dray's story and now I am in love! I love that these books show us a bit of each guys personality and then they get their own story. For me, Rett was BY FAR the hottest of all the Custom Culture books. For Rett, women are nothing but a notch on his bed post. Rett has a different girl(s) every night and leaves before the sun peaks over the horizon. It is the perfect life, for someone like Rett. That is until all his friends are settling down. Rett begins to think that maybe his life is missing something after all. Finley King is also missing something in her life. She has a past that she is trying to forget, but the medication she takes everyday is making that a little difficult. When Finley and Rett meet, fireworks go off. It is evident that these two have chemistry from their first meeting. Again, I didn't think I would enjoy a first time as much as I did Clutch's and Taylors, but boy was I wrong. The first time Rett and Fin get together is H-O-T. My mouth was dry and I was sweating. Rett and Fin are perfect for each other and their chemistry is powerful. I'm not sure what else I can say about this book. I loved it!!

I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I have been a huge fan of Tess, her writting, and this series for a while. I was worried that when it was Rett's turn at love I feared I might have built him up too much in my head. See, while he was flawed at times he was still a great character you just had to love. Well let me tell you, this book did not disappoint. I loved, Loved, LOVED IT!! I truly didn't want it to end. Fans of the series know it had to take a special girl to finally make Rett a one woman man and Tess's choice of Finley being that girl could not have been more perfect. I loved the two of them together. It was nice to see Finley stronger and more confident from when we last saw her last in Strangely Normal. I loved that these two semi broken and flawed souls found each other and knew right away they could essentially heal each other. I also loved how they made each other better and stronger without being unhealthy in how much they needed and wanted each other. So often I read books that can't successfully pull that off so applause to this wonderful author for getting it and writing it so perfectly! Another great thing was seeing all the other couples returning (one can never read enough Jude and Nix in my opinion). I never want this series to end so of course now I'm crossing my fingers hard that there will be plans for a story for Cole. But in conclusion I really can't say enough good things about this book. A wonderful 5 star read!

I was gifted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the 4th book in Tess Oliver's Custom Culture Series. While each book is technically a standalone each book builds on previous characters. So my recommendation is to read them in order. Finley King has emotional problems. For almost two years she refused to step foot outside of her house. Panic attacks and OCD tendencies were a constant in her life. Now she is finally on the mend. Slow and Steady is her motto. She is in therapy and taking medications that help keep everything at an even keel for her. But she is concerned that the medications are causing her to miss out of the normal feelings of life. Until Barrett "Rett" Mason walks into her life. Rett hasn't had the easiest life. He's made some bad decisions that have affected his relationships with other family members. As the youngest of five children he grew up with no fear of life or what it threw at him. He is finally at a good place with a steady job. Rett even becomes good friends with his boss Cole not knowing that he was about to meet the one woman who he couldn't walk away from. Finley decides from the moment she sees Rett that he's the one for her. The one who can help her feel and live again. Rett thinks she's an angel but is warned off more than once by Fin's brothers that he's not good enough for her. It's amazing what happens when a girl who has lived by the rules most of her life decides she's ready to walk that tight rope for what she wants, and a boy finally realizes that maybe there is one girl out there worth fighting for.  I was in love with Rett before I even read this book. He was such a great secondary / support character in both Clutch and Drey that I was really excited when I found out he was getting his own book. You can imagine my surprise when I started to read Rett and realized that Finley King from the book Strangely Normal (which I absolutely loved!)was Rett's love interest. I really liked how Tess joined these characters and their families together so seamlessly. One can only hope that now we get a book with Cole's story (hint hint)! I honestly can't wait to see what Tess Oliver comes up with next!

First and foremost, I must disclose that I am a huge fan of Tess Oliver; however, I also want to assure anyone reading this review that this fact does not diminish the validity of the claims in this review. With that being said, I was truly looking forward to reading the next book in the Custom Culture series. When I discovered that the book entitled, "Rett" would feature the womanizing brother of Clutch, I could not wait to read it. You see, I really wanted to see Barrett or "Rett" fall from his womanizing ways and learn what it would be like to be vulnerable to someone else for a change. However, what I did not know was that Ms. Oliver would take a character from another one of my favorite books of hers ("Strangely Normal")and seamlessly tie her into this series. Rett has been working for Kingston Construction for one of the owners and his friend, Cole. His brother, Clutch, warns him not to mix business with pleasure but what fun is that? So, Rett goes off to Motocross with Cole. As they get to know each other better Rett is surprised that Cole not only has an older brother but a sister as well. Oh, did I mention that Cole's father is the famous rocker Nicky King.  When Cole enlists Rett's assistance in building a barn on their property for a runaway cow named Lily Belle and a rescue pig, name That's Some Pig he has no clue he is about to meet a girl who will drag down his defenses. That girl is none other than Finley King, Cole's sister.  Although it is made more that clear by both Cole and his brother that Fin is off limits that does not stop Rett or Fin from pursuing their mutual attraction. When Fin confesses her inability to have an orgasm, Rett is determined to fulfill her dream. As they begin spending more time together they learn they both have a troubled past but it does not diminish their desire for one another. Then, when a tragedy strikes, Fin and Rett will have to overcome their individual insecurities if they value the relationship they have built. This is the most endearing read of all of the four stories in the series. It is sweet, with a nice mix of comedy, tragedy and action. Although I said the read is sweet that does not mean that the sex in this book is not erotic, sensual and smokin' hot. Quite the contrary. Rett does not have a reputation with the ladies for nothing! The other thing I enjoyed about this story is getting little glimpses into the continuing lives of my other favorite characters from the series like Clutch, Taylor, Dray etc. This series just keeps getting better and better and with the meshing of the characters in "Strangely Normal" I only see additional excitement in the future. Do yourself a favor, if you have not read anything by Tess Oliver start with the Custom Culture series. Definitely start with book one and read them in progressive order. You will definitely be hooked especially if you are as tired as I am with all of the poor girl meets kinky billionaire guy books on the market. You will become an instant fan!
