Jim Tucker is a scientist and he gets into a whole lot of science that dragged this book down for me. Do not purchase thinking that you will be reading a book full of case studies of children and their past life memories. There are a few ( very few ), chapters discussing study subjects, then Dr. Tucker launches into a detailed discussion of quantum physics and quantum mechanics ending with a prolonged musing on the collectve Mind. If you want a whole lot of theory and few stories, go for it, otherwise don't go there.

The author, head of the psychology Department of the U. of VA, has collected 2,500 cases of young children recalling a previous life. In 1,500 of these cases, the family of the previous individual have been met with, and the case verified. The individual cases are fascinating. How could any church or any individual deny that cases of reincarnation have occurred.

Amazing cases, amazing book. Dr. Tucker investigates each case so carefully that you almost have to believe in reincarnation by the time you finish reading.

Couple great prose with a sober scientific perspective on what otherwise seems a topic for fantasy and science fiction and you get Life after Death.

I am a big believer in past lives and this excellent book reaffirmed that belief. It is extremely well-written and I highly recommend it for anyone interested in the afterlife and/or spirituality.

YAWN The book feels like a synopsis of past life cases from other books I've read. I was disappointed, hoping there would be something with more substance like in the books by Brian Weiss, Carol Bowman, and the Linnenger's own book account of their son James. If I want a quick review of other people's work I'll buy the spark notes. Save your money people unless you want something to put you to sleep, in which case I'd give it 5 yawns.
