Russian Political Thought: A Concise History (Classic Reprint)
Excerpt from Russian Political Thought: A Concise History

Were feasible, it would hardly be worth while, for the residue of peculiarly Russian thoughts would probably be very small and would almost certainly be confined to minor points. The main problems of political life are by their very nature such that they are either universal or at least relevant for more than one people, and particular ways of approaching these problems are seldom confined to one country. It is more sensible to define Russian political thought as the sum total of what Russian people have in fact thought about political matters in the course of their history. Most of this Russia would share with some other coun tries, and for a better understanding both of the development of Russian thought itself and of its place in the political thought of mankind it is useful to put it into the context of a wider body of thought.
