About the Author

Rita Montague is a biologist, teacher and guitar player who just missed the hippy generation. She and her family have transited the Intra-Coastal Waterway from Maryland to Florida and back. She is tied closely to nature having spent most of her life in Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay and in Southwest, FL on Pine Island Sound and the Matlacha Pass.

As a teacher of teens, Rita understands the importance of maintaining the attention of middle and high school students. She does this in her writing through ever changing adrenaline-pumping situations, similar to those provided by fiction adventure writers such as Clive Cussler.

Rita uses actual scientific principles and terms in her writing. She often uses existing names of animals, healing plants, and lunar and/or planetary craters, rather than putting together nonsensical names. Her imagination is boundless. She is not above tapping into the quirky attitudes and budding romantic desires of young teens.

Rita drew on her life experiences as a mother, teacher, scientist, musician, islander, and sailor to create Sam Dahl - ATTACK OF THE GARGANS. This Sci-Fi thriller was written for middle school students, but captures the interest of readers of all ages. She continues to explore, teach, and write in southwest Florida.
