But later, Hanna discovers a revelation about someone, news that may help heal their sufferings but would it be enough or is it too little too late for their love...

Sebastian: Dark Times Arising, the second book of Elizabeth Johnson's series about star-crossed lovers Hanna and Sebastian, is aptly named. Trouble haunts them both, even though they've tried to forget each other.

At the end of the first book, Hanna cannot forgive Sebastian for lying to her, so they separate. In the beginning of the second, Sebastian is so distraught he tries to kill himself repeatedly. Yet when Thomas, one of Mason Benedict's henchmen leaves Sebastian crushed under a crashed airliner, it is Hannah who senses his danger and pulls him back to life.

But many challenges lie ahead for the separated lovers, and this book, while answering some questions, leaves the biggest one to be answered in the next installment. I'm looking forward to reading it.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable vampire adventure tale with a large cast of characters, complex emotions, and some ripping good fight scenes.

I was excited to hear of this book's release because I thoroughly enjoyed book one. Get ready, because two is even better than the first!
The author picks up where she left off in book one, with Hanna learning that Sebastian isn't quite the hero she thought...or is he?
With a big piece of new info, she's ready to make amends - finally, I was dying! - but along the way, we meet new characters and learn more about the old ones.
I enjoyed the character development and backstory in this one. There was a lot of well-placed tension and build-up, which I enjoyed.
Just as she did in book one, Elizabeth spins a tale of vampires, violence, drama, and love into a web of excitement.
I loved the epic battle at the end, and I enjoyed connecting with all of the characters even more after reading book one.
Parts of this book were so exciting, I had to go grab some snacks.
Elizabeth's writing is smooth and concise; this was a fast read but one I wasn't read to finish because....there's still more to the story! So I know what that means. A book 3!!! But I did feel satisfied at the end. It was such a good continuation of the story.
I'm truly looking forward to what comes next!

Some loves transcend time and place April 22 2016

Ever since reading SEBASTIAN, I've been eagerly awaiting the next installment in the intriguing story of Sebastian and Hanna. DARK TIMES ARISING met all of my hopes and then some. But please don't mistake this as a light vampire romp. This is a sweeping, layered story that is rich with details, boasting a supporting cast of characters who are just as interesting as our hero and heroine. The action spreads to exotic and refreshingly new locations (Lagos, anyone?) that are brought to vivid life by the author's loving touch.

But...what we all want to know is will Sebastian and Hanna reunite? Will they be able to heal the breach and heartache that drove them apart at the end of the first book? Without spilling the delicious twists of this story, let me just say that there are still plenty of factors keeping them apart. Ms. Johnson makes these into real obstacles that enrich the characters -- she isn't relying on trite, boring plot tricks. Sebastian's heartache will make your heart ache too, showing us a side of him that was hinted in Book 1. Hanna really comes into her own as a modern girl who's exploring some very ancient powers emerging inside of her.

A wonderful aspect of DARK TIMES ARISING is the rich cast of supporting characters, all with stories of their own. This book does a great job of moving between these story arcs while keeping pace and never losing Hanna and Sebastian as the main players. Some characters are good, but some are very, very bad -- delightfully so. Hilda will hold your interest start to finish, and she was one of my favorites. I'll save the rest so you can enjoy reading about her.
