Edward "Ned" Hethington was born and raised in the South Carolina Lowcountry. Ned is a father, grandfather and great grandfather. He retired as a police officer with the Charleston City Police Department after over 30 years of service from the early 1970s to 2006. He began his career as a reserve police officer and retired as Interim Chief of Police. During his career he served at every rank in the police department. He has vast experience as a street officer on patrol in the Uniform Division and many plain clothes assignments in Narcotics, Vice Squad and special tactical units. He also commanded those positions as the division and bureau commander of operations, special operations and administrative services. Neds' hobbies after retirement include water color painting. He started writing a few years ago and this book of short stories is his 4th publication. He wrote Anne Bonny's Temporal Paradox an historical fantasy. He has also written The City's Finest and The City's Finest 2. Those are true stories from his many years in the streets of Charleston as a police officer and commander. Ned holds a master's degree from The Citadel.
