SILENCING THE SPEAKER The Defaming of John Bercow

On 8th March 2022 the former Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, was 'convicted' of being a 'serial bully and a serial liar'. Not only was he forbidden from obtaining a Parliamentary pass but he was, as a consequence of this decision, the first Speaker of the House of Commons to be refused a peerage so that he could never enjoy Parliamentary privilege again.

The problem was that the process by which he was 'convicted' was deeply flawed and sets a dangerous precedent that could seriously undermine parliamentary democracy.

Far from being '89 pages of damning evidence', closer inspection of the inquiry into Bercow's conduct shows that the report was flimsy in substance, unprofessional in its methods, politically motivated, contemptuous of natural justice and - on occasion - quite ridiculous.

It is abundantly clear that the political establishment contrived and conspired to silence Bercow for a range of motives and were prepared to use any means necessary. John Bercow was never permitted an appeal in this Kangaroo Court farrago. The book represents the case for the defence which was never properly heard or revealed. Read now before it is silenced too.
