About the Author

Dr. Maqbool A. Halepota, MD, FACP, CPE, is a medical oncologist in Scottsdale, Arizona. He is the current elected president of Sindhi Association of North America (SANA), is the founding president of Sindhi American Political Action Committee, and chairman of the board directors of Sindhi Foundation. He is also a founding member of the Fund for Educational Development in Sindh and has served as a member of the board of directors for the American Civil Liberties Union in Arizona. Before moving to Arizona, he worked in Kentucky, where he earned a commission in the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels for his outstanding service and care for the indigenous population in one of the poorest counties in the state.He has organized, conducted, and chaired many international conferences and meetings, including annual conventions of SANA, international meetings of Sindhi intellectuals, politicians, and other thought leaders in Karachi, London, New York, and Washington, DC. His articles have been published in many journals, including South Asia Tribune and peer-reviewed medical journals. He is currently working on another book on the historical roots of Sufism in the Indus Valley.He is highly respected and well-known among the Sindhi communities in US, Canada, and all over Sindh for his nonpartisan advocacy and philanthropy on behalf of the most oppressed sections of the society.
