Overview

Young ladies whispered about the Duke of Mondvale in hushed tones, their eyes following his tall, dark figure. For the newly-ostracized Lady Constance Thornton, the Duke is magnetic and desirable. Since her reputation is already ruined in London society, why shouldn't she dance with the scandalous Lord of Sin?

The beautiful and innocent Lady Constance is fun to be sure, but she is also his means to exact revenge. By ruining her, he will have his vengeance against her brother. Except that the Lady is full of surprises... and she could well be the ruin of him.

Revenge and Redemption. This was an intense and emotional read. The description above gives you an general overview of story between Lucan and Constance. A heroine who is has been shunned by society as rumor begins that she is a bastard. We have Lucan a powerful and rich Duke who is out for his sisters revenge. And it's Constance that is the target due to it being her brother that was part of Lucan's sisters death, he believes. A sister for a sister. This is a romance that is rich in character and plot. The author does an excellent job in pealing off layers of the two MC in the story. You become immersed in there thought process and why they make certain decisions and their reactions. The plot is about revenge but also the redemption of past hurts and wrongs committed. The beautiful heroine is young in age but acts strong and mature in her decisions. She knows her own mind and stands up for herself (which I love). Lucan is handsome (love that he wore glasses!!) appearing ruthless and bent on extracting revenge for his sister at almost any cost, at first. But he shows a side of himself that Constance brings out that is sweet, tender and a gentleman in the end. This is a sweet and tender romance. There is definitely some excellent chemistry between the two MC with some very smoldering moments between them. We also have family and lot's of angst thrown in too.

I absolutely loved this book. I started reading it before bed, and found myself turning page after page, reluctant to put it down. Though it is shorter in length, the emotion and angst of the characters had me enthralled. I can honestly say of the many books I've read, this 188 page book is now one of my favorites. A beautiful romance, with humor, angst, and most of all love for the main characters. I highly recommend this book.

183 pages. Can be read as a stand alone. Rated R sex scenes. I actually really loved this one. I loved both of the main characters. The heroine had all the trademarks of a blushing innocent but at the same time, Constance's character had depth and a real personality. She had actual interests and saw Lucan as he really was and not just a fantasy of him. I'm a little annoyed that we still have no idea what happened to Marissa and we never will. They wrapped up that story without any real conclusion. Did Stanhope beat her or was she bruising herself and telling each of her lovers it was the other? Also.... Is his name supposed to be pronounced Lucien? Luke-an? Luck-an? What the heck is his name? All in all a really good read though. I like that their trials and tribulations were real and not some misunderstanding or petty issue blown out of proportion. I really enjoyed a story where the woman vehemently pursues the man. She was also set on what she wanted and stuck to it. I really liked her.

Everyone has already stated enough about the whininess of the heroine, so I won't belabor that point. I just think that the author has failed to do proper research on manners and rules of this historical time period. Besides the fact that a gently reared heroine of that age would KNOW not to get deliberately into several of the situations she found herself in, the laws of English primogeniture in the peerage (as opposed to royalty) appear to have disappeared entirely. A throw-away line that the hero (a duke) was the heir to his grandfather's title THROUGH HIS MOTHER. No! Being female automatically disqualified you from inheriting titles in England (no discussion, please, on the justice of this), and thus also disqualified her children. Any exception to this required Parliamentary and royal approval, and NOTHING was mentioned of this in the book. To be honest, the throne would rather a peerage become extinct so that it could be absorbed into the royal holdings, so most likely a lot of money would have had to change hands for a special inheritance. Again, no mention of this in the book. Another glitch in the inheritance appears to be whatever happened with the heroine's brothers. I have not read the previous volumes, but there seemed to be mentioned that the previous duke would "out" his second and third children as illegitimate if his son named his (half) brother as heir. Now, that sounds like a catch-22. The natural ducal heir would be a younger brother before the duke married and had a son, so if he did not know that his siblings were illegitimate, how would he know NOT to name his brother heir? It's not as if he was allowed to pick and choose his heir, according to the law. Anyway, blatant discrepancies like this cause me to avoid an author in the future, and this author will join those ranks. If you just want some angsty soft porn and don't care about historical accuracy, by all means enjoy this author's works.

This book is very good! I couldn't put it down. It is the third book in the Calydon series and I think it's the best! It is the complicated love story of the Duke's younger sister, Constance, and the Duke of Mondvale (Lucan), an unknown enemy of her eldest brother. There are many secondary characters that I would love to see have HEAs. I don't write plot spoilers but I really liked this book.

An emotional, sweet, and absolutely fantastic romance, Sins of a Duke was an excellent read. I really loved this book. It had likable characters, a great story, and a lovely romance. Constance was great. She knew when to go after what she wanted but also refused to let herself be a doormat. She judged a person by merit rather than rumor and knew when it was time to forgive. She was lively, kind, and a really likable heroine. Lucan was interesting. At first, I was worried that he would come off as unlikable because he was using an innocent woman as a means for revenge. But, it quickly became clear that he had more of a conscience than he admitted to. His desire for revenge stemmed from the guilt he felt from being unable to protect his sister and, in the end, it wasn't in him to truly hurt someone. He showed that he could be very sweet and was willing to fight for the woman he loved, even if that meant just waiting for her forgiveness. I thought he was wonderful. The romance was perfect. Constance and Lucan were lovely together. They were such a sweet couple and an equal one. Constance knew when to let Lucan squirm for what he had done but knew that, when an apology was as heartfelt as the one Lucan gave, it was time to forgive. No melodramatics, thank goodness. And, they definitely had chemistry together that smoldered at their every meeting. The plot moved quickly and kept me hooked right from the start. The story was wonderful and the ending was perfect. Sins of a Duke was a delightful historical romance that I absolutely loved. It was wonderfully sweet, romantic and emotional. Everything about it was just perfect. Romance lovers, this is a book you won't want to miss. *I received a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

An interesting love to hate to love story.  Constance is an amazing character.  She is full of strength as the ton shuns her when the truth of her birth is somehow revealed.  But she holds her chin up and waits for it to blow over - but it doesn't.  Someone is fanning the flames and making her life miserable.  Her views of the ton and the friends she has made change drastically over the course of the story and I really enjoyed watching her develop the "modern woman" mind set.  I loved her reactions to everything along the way - she was very real to me. Lucan on the other hand, is a bit of a scoundrel. He is instantly attracted to the beautiful lady, but he doesn't realize exactly who she is at first.  When he realizes it's the same lady he's set out to ruin he feels something he didn't expect - guilt.  But that doesn't stop him - and this is where I didn't really like him.  He just refused to let it all go a little too long.  I understand his hurt and his desire for revenge, but he just takes it too long and too far. Watching it all unfold was a fun story.  As I said earlier, Constance really shone in this story and made it well worth reading.  I just wish Lucan had been redeemed a little bit earlier. *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*

Stacy has a happy, sad and mixed up story here. I started reading and then I had to go get some tissues to get me to the end. This is a confusing story line. This person does this and that person does that and then they switch. Lucan wants vengeance for his sister's death. Spoiler. Constance meets Lucan at a ball and he wants to ruin her. Spoiler. She was given The Cut Direct when papers show she and one of her brothers are illigitament. Spoiler. She falls for him and he falls for her. Then he drives her away. She finds who damaged her, refuses to marry. Then those who cut her now are best friends. Spoiler. All I can say is this is one of the busiest stories I have read. I can't say enough of this book as it is one huge spoiler. You should check this one out to find out how it finishes. It is well worth your time to read it. It is another hard to put down story and don't forget your tissues. Enjoy!  I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.

A highly entertaining historical romance that kept me hooked to my e-reader from beginning to end. The chemistry between Lucan and Constance is on fire. The story is drama filled and suspenseful, it really drew me in, I loved Lucan, out for revenge but can he go through with it? A great read!
