Overview

A heroic novel that subverts the conventions of traditional Westerns by diving headfirst into the deviance and violence of the Mexican Revolution with one woman's struggle to find freedom and protect the ones she loves. Soldadera is based on real-life rebel soldier Angela "Angel" Jimenez, who fought alongside men during the Mexican Revolution in 1911. The story traces her fight along the Texas-Mexico border as she attempts to save a retired American colonel and his young granddaughter from ruthless Mexican federale soldiers.
