Sorry For Your Loss: What People Who Are Grieving Wish You Knew
“When I ask people who are grieving what comforts them, nearly every single person gives the same answer. ‘Someone to listen.’ The same three words, over and over and over again. Someone to listen. The simplicity of this is important. They don’t want someone to ‘fix’ it. They’re not asking for answers, spiritual wisdom, or uplifting cliches. Nope, they just need you to be there.”
In Sorry For Your Loss: What People Who Are Grieving Wish You Knew, Alicia King combines her own wisdom and that of others who have “been there” to offer good advice for those who feel helpless when it comes to helping the bereaved. Included here are:

• the best ways to get involved on behalf of the grief-stricken
• how to care for young children in grief
• interviews with and advice from those who have suffered a loss
• 20 ways to pay tribute to the beloved
• 10 things never to say
• answers to virtually any question that may arise in support for the grieving

About the Author

Alicia King writes from the unique perspective of one who has lost many of those close to her. Her mother’s death was suspicious enough to launch a homicide investigation and lengthy legal rollercoaster. This ultimately led to a sentence of more than 15 years for her mother’s boyfriend. During the next eight years she would lose her grandmother, step-father, step-mother, and father, as well as miscarrying in her second trimester while awaiting her mother’s boyfriend’s trial. Ms. King currently lives in Franklin, Tennessee, with her husband, Dan, and their two children. She is a world-class worrier, earning her the nickname, the Queen of Concern. She is also an award-winning songwriter, writing mostly for film and TV.
