DEC 03/JAN 04 - AudioFile

Whether it’s music, concert management, celebrity, or just plain life that catches your interest, this novel about a superstar violinist will stay with you. In residence with the Chicago Symphony, Nick Raze, violinist, meets a family whose friendship causes him to recollect the pain of his early years. The story flows easily and is carried by the wonderful voice of Christopher Lane. If there’s an “American sound,” Lane has it. He speaks lightly, clearly, and with the greatest warmth for every character. His voice is not studied, yet the “t’s” and “d’s” are all present. He sounds like a friend who reads in that comfortable way of a person who wants you to hear and understand, giving the listener a beautiful experience. J.P. Page 1: The less told, the greater the need to know. The need to know what is behind the image, the fa&#çade, the Raybans. A mystery sells itself. If you have a product you want to sell, wrap it in a cellophane secret. No bold print, just winks behind a veil. Missing information is the most interesting part about a person. The more blanks there are to fill in, the more room there is for dreams.
