If there's one thing that Bridgette Reynolds has learned recently, it's that the perfect shoes, the perfect hair, and the perfect dress do not make for the perfect proposal. In fact, sometimes they make for the not-so-perfect breakup.

Now, Bridgette must do everything in her power to win Adam back. She knows they are meant to be. And nothing will stand in her way-not her friends, not her grandmother, not even the fact that Adam is now engaged to Serene after a whirlwind romance.

Focused on her plan to win Adam back, Bridgette isn't expecting Ian-her college best friend, her love, her big regret-to come back into her life. They sink back into their comfortable friendship as if no time has passed at all, making Bridgette start to question her feelings for Adam. But Ian has a few secrets of his own . . . secrets that could shatter their friendship once and for all.

Bridgette has to make some major decisions-should she speak now? Or forever hold her peace?

Reviewed by Gretchen Jawurek for Readers' Favorite Bridgette, a small town girl from Connecticut, has just moved to New York to live with her Gram. Broken hearted and starting a new job, Bridgette thought she would not find love again after “the love of her life” left, but then she saw Adam in the local deli. It was love at first sight and so we become part of her quest to find the love of her life, stop a wedding, and make things right with her friends and her Gram. Bridgette bungles her way through love’s trials, tribulations and victories with her best friends Ashley and Justin at her side. She finally comes to a decision about “the perfect love.” Have you ever read something that made you say to yourself, “Oh I can’t believe she said that!” or “Oh I can’t believe she did that!” That was my first response reading Becky Monson’s book Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace. From the prologue to the very end, I had to keep reading to find out what would happen to Bridgette and her friends. I loved how Bridgette had her best friends Ashley and Justin, who stood by her no matter what wacky plan she came up with, and how they had their favorite diner that was their place where they would celebrate, encourage each other and prove that friendship can outlast “crazy love.” Will she find the “perfect love” she dreams about or something better or something different all together? From the first words the author drew me in and I couldn’t put the book down. I just had to find out what would happen to Bridgette and her best friends. The author makes you think about your ideas of love and finding the “perfect love.”

What's a girl to do when she's expecting to get engaged, only to get dumped by her boyfriend? Speak Now Or Forever Hold Your Peace is an entertaining chick lit tale about romantic relationships and friendships. Set in NYC and written in the first person narrative, sassy Bridgette Reynolds takes the reader along for the ride as she plans to win back ex-boyfriend Adam's heart, only to have her plans turned upside down when she unexpectedly runs into Ian Davies, her ex-college best friend turned boyfriend who broke her heart. Suddenly Bridgette is feeling all sorts of things that she never had planned. As Bridgette struggles with her feelings for Adam and Ian, her romantic relationships and friendships are filled with drama, trials and tribulations, and awkward predicaments that are endearing and humorous. Set in the present and intermixed with flashbacks to Bridgette's college relationship with Ian, the reader is in for a treat when they read this lighthearted story. It has enough family, friendship, and workplace drama, and a subtle romantic triangle that keeps the reader engaged and turning the pages. I really loved Bridgette's witty personality, it was so much fun to follow her story. I found myself either laughing or cringing at the quirky antics and awkward situations that she found herself in as she struggled to find romance and happiness. From her supportive co-workers/best friends Ashley and Justin, to her lovable grandmother, to Adam's crazy Italian family, Bridgette's story will surely tickle your funny bone in a hot New York minute! Speak Now Or Forever Hold Your Peace is a delightful chick lit tale that will tickle your funny bone.

Becky Monson delivers a delightful chick lit novel. It was definitely fun to read, and I am sure I would enjoy her other books. (going to add them to my goodreads to-read shelf now) I was in love with the main character, Bridgette Reynolds! I would have been friends with her. I love a book where you feel that much for a character. It takes a great writer for you to make that connection. This story began at a runners pace, and took you right into the sheer madness of Bridgette’s love life. I was laughing out loud within the first few pages. And, this pace lasted throughout the entire book. I would have been happier if the ending was a bit longer, I wanted to revel in it a bit. The array of characters in this story are marvelous…Bridgette’s best friends, Ashley and Justin are a wonderful addition to the drama that unfolds in Bridgette’s life. To quote Becky Monson. “I do love that even if she hates my choices, Ashley has my back. That is a true best friend right there”. This book is about friendship just as much as it is about Bridgette's love life...or lack thereof. Bridgette’s love interests, Adam and Ian are the ideal relationships to give this story a great back bone. I bet a lot of us have "the one that got away" story... Even Adam’s mother, Carla is hysterical. She really is awesome!! If you have ever broken up with someone and felt the loss of losing their family, as well…this book will really hit home for you I need to add: Bridgette’s grandmother’s (Gram’s) and her Bridge Club needs their own book. Her Grams was so hysterical, and perfect. She reminded me of my grandmother, only instead of watching “Young and the Restless” together, we watched “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of Fortune”. My grandmother was also in her 80’s and just as funny, and spry! Everything that involved Grams always made me smile. This book was very reminiscent of Helen Fielding’s, “Bridget Jones’s Diary”…so much, that I can see this as a movie. I would really like to know what these characters look like. :) I imagine Ryan Gosling playing Ian....ok, yes, that did make this book even better!!!

Bridgette works as a server for Edelweiss Catering along with her friend, Ashley and Justin. Bridgette has been dating Adam Dubois for two years and is certain he will be popping the question soon. So when they meet up for dinner, she is devastated when he breaks up with her and she finds he is going to marry someone else. Heartbroken, she can’t seem to get over it. Since she is still good friends with Adam’s mother, they meet often for lunch and she insists that Bridgette remain part of the family and even wants her to attend Adam’s wedding. Awkward? Oh yeah! Bridgette's old college friend comes to town. Ian Davies is an old flame who moved to London after college graduation. Best friends through school, they had a fling but broke up after graduation. Getting together brings back fun memories for both of them and we see their relationship grow through flashbacks. Bridgette is not sure where her heart truly lies. Is she still in love with Adam or has her heart always belonged to Ian? With the help of her friends and her savvy grandmother with whom she lives, we watch her as she sorts through her feelings trying to decide which man to pursue. There are a lot of humorous moments and true-to-life events that make the reader nod their head knowing we have all been there at some point. I really enjoyed the way the author introduced the flashbacks in the book. Most of the time I don’t like flashbacks because I find that they can be confusing. But not in this book. Well done, Becky Monson. I have now read all three of Becky Monson’s novels and was so excited when I saw this new one come out. This is one very talented author and chick lit is definitely her forte. I look forward to reading more from her and hope everyone will grab a copy of this book, sit back and enjoy one of the best reads you have had in a long time.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are 100% my own. This is the perfect book for a fun beach read. It’s funny and keeps you wanting to read. I read the book in one day. It’s been awhile since I read a book in a day. Have you ever been so caught up in a romance that you plan everything out and then get blindsided by reality? That is exactly what happened to Bridgette with her boyfriend Adam. Adam breaks it off with her and she wants to get him back….or does she? The past has a funny way of coming back to the surface sometimes. When Bridgette least expects it her college boyfriend Ian returns to her life.  There are some unresolved issues between the two of them. At the beginning of the book Bridgette has her life planned out and thinks it’s going great. In the blink of the eye her world is turned upside down.  Get your favorite drink, snacks, and get in your comfortable reading spot. You’ll be there awhile, you won’t want to stop reading until you get to the end.

Did I enjoy this book: I really did! This was a fantastic read that I read every free chance I had. I loved Speak Now. It grabbed me from the very beginning, and it kept me guessing throughout. I didn’t know what team to be on–Team Ian, Team Justin. I kept flip-flopping sides. I was glued to the book. I laughed. I gasped. I questioned. I was involved from the very beginning. I had to see how this story ended. I loved Bridgette. I think that anyone can relate to her and want to be on her side. Maybe not at first, but by the end, you’ll be on her side. The poor thing went through a lot. There were a few times I wanted to tell her that enough was enough, move on! But I got what she was going through. I loved the other characters as well. Gram was one of my favorites. She cracked me up. The things she read! The guys were well written. I won’t say anything about them because I don’t want to give too much away. Read it. Overall, this is a great chick-lit read. It moves. It’s funny. It will keep you reading. Would I recommend it: Absolutely! Disclosure: I did some editing work on this title. After that work was completed, I was asked by the author to review the book. I received a copy of this book for review purposes. Although I was compensated for the editing work, it in no way affected the outcome of my review. My review is my honest opinion of the book.
