About the Author

Pura López Colomé, one of Mexico's most acclaimed con-temporary poets, has published twelve volumes of poetry, most recently Via Corporis (2016) and Poemas reunidos 1985-2012 (Collected Poems), as well as two books of essays, Afluentes and Imperfecta semejanza. In 2008, she was awarded Mexico's most prestigious poetry prize, the Premio Xavier Villarrutia. Previous work in English includes Aurora, translated by Jason Stumpf for Shearsman Books, as well as No Shelter and Watchword, both translated by Forrest Gander. López Colomé has also published numerous trans-lations from English, most prominently a volume of Seamus Heaney's collected work in 2015. She is a member of Mexico's Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte, and lives in Cuernavaca, Morelos.

Dan Bellm has published four books of poetry, most recently Deep Well (2017) and Practice (2008), winner of the California Book Award. He lives in Berkeley, California, and teaches literary translation in the MFA in Creative Writing Program at Antioch University Los Angeles. Other recent translations include two works by Pierre Reverdy, The Song of the Dead (2016) and Sun on the Ceiling (2011), and two by Jorge Esquinca, Description of a Flash of Cobalt Blue and Nostalghia, both in 2015.
