About the Author

Jean Bowen directed professional development at The Howard School in Atlanta, Georgia, where she also served as principal. She developed educational material that focused on strategies to help students make competent and successful decisions about their own learning. Over the last 25 years, she has presented workshops on topics related to locus of control to various organizations in the United States, China, and Canada, and has lectured on the subject at McGill University in Montreal. She resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Carol King, M.Ed., is the Director of Special Services for the Torah Day School in Atlanta. She has presented workshops on music and learning disabilities at the International Conference of Learning Disabilities Association, State Convention of the Council for Exceptional Children, and Georgia Independent Schools Association Conference. She lives in Doraville, Georgia. Marianne Hawkins, M.Ed., directs the Assessment and Family Education Center at The Howard School in Atlanta, where she designs and implements comprehensive language communication and speech services. She gives presentations to local, national, and international professional audiences.
