Overview

Be yourself like Molly Lou Melon no matter what a bully may do.

Molly Lou Melon is short and clumsy, has buck teeth, and has a voice that sounds like a bullfrog being squeezed by a boa constrictor. She doesn't mind. Her grandmother has always told her to walk proud, smile big, and sing loud, and she takes that advice to heart.

But then Molly Lou has to start in a new school. A horrible bully picks on her on the very first day, but Molly Lou Melon knows just what to do about that.

What an incredible children’s book! I’m quite sure that everyone has had encounters with bullies at one point or another, and if children are young and fortunate enough that they haven’t, they surely will before adulthood. This children’s book celebrates the unique differences that are often the basis that bullies use to poke fun at other children. Regardless of what mean things people said or did, Molly Lou Mellon stood tall and proud of who she was. Always. The illustrations that accompany thus story are phenomenal as well!

As a teacher, I highly recommend this title. It's a great story about a little girl who embraces her differences and stands up to the class bully. She doesn't let anyone get her down. A great story for teaching children acceptance and self-esteem.

This is the book to get and keep. It's not just for kids. It tells you how to live life. I was recommended to get this book by my child's daycare provider and ordered 4 copies the next day for 4 different people.

Stand tall Molly Lou Melom is Very encoraging book about a little girl. That is just taller than her dog. Mollys grandma told her alway walk as proud as you can. Molly had buck teeth that were so big that so could put big stacks of pennies on her teeth. Molly also had Avoice tha souned like a bullfrog being squeezed by a boa constictor. Molly Beleieved in her self but she often had a fumble finger. Soon Molly would be moving to a new town. So, she had to say good bye to her grandma and friends to start at a new school. In her new school, there is a bully who makes fun of Molly for how she looks. Molly shows himthat everyone is different in their own way. There is a good life lesson in this story of how everyone is different. That is what I liked about it. It showes how Molly stands up for her self.

I bought this for my 11 year old daughter years ago. It was one of her favorites, now I read it several times a day to her 20 month old brother. My Grandmother is just like Molly, short, with a scratchy voice. When I read it to her she almost cried. She wished she had had this book when she was young. The illustrations are amazing also. I highly recommend this book.

What a breath of fresh air. My Goddaughter and I love this book. It was the book she learned to read from, and the first she read through all by herself. We have even painted one of 'Grandmother's quotes of wisdom' on her bedroom wall. What a glorious way to instill self assurance and confindence in today's impressionable young children who are struggling to 'fit in'. Thank you for writing such an enlightening children's book.

Molly Lou Melon is a very small and odd looking little girl. Her grandmother always thought her how to be strong and not let anyone put her down. When Molly Lou Melon moves and has to go to a new school, Molly must stand up to the bully in the school Ronald Durkin. This is a great read aloud book that teaches children how they should deal with bullies.

Children love and respect Molly Lou Melon as we all can identify with her stuggles and humor through life.

This is a precious book about being proud of who you are no matter what others say or do. Molly Lou becomes discouraged when other students pick on her for her looks and abilities. Her grandmother boosts her confidence and encourages her to "stand tall". This is a great book for inferencing and character education.

Molly Lou Melon is my new hero. She's a tiny little girl with buckteeth and a raspy, croaky voice, but she lives by the words of her grandma which assure her that attitude is all that matters. Armed with that good advice, Molly Lou Melon tackles a brand new school and wins the heart of the resident bully just by being herself.

Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon by Patty Lovell, Illustrated by David Catrow. This was such a cute book! I had to read this for a class and it teaches such a valuable lesson. I felt like I could relate to this book and I am sure may other children will be able to relate to is as well. This book encourages children to be themselves and not worry so much about what other people think. It also teaches that you can accomplish anything you want regardless of appearance. Opinions from others cannot keep you from goals or dreams that you wish to achieve. The idea of confidence in yourself is a valuable lesson to remember or learn and Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon teaches just that! A lesson not just for kids but adults too.

What a great book that teaches self-esteem and confidence to children! Children will, at some point in their lives, encounter people who do not like certain characteristics about them. The key theme in this story is to be who you are and accomplish what you can no matter who you are or what you look like. This is a life lesson that should be learned, not only by children, but also by adults. Everyone needs to learn that the opinions of others should not keep us from our goals and dreams. Molly Lou Melon looks and acts differently than most children. She learned from her grandmother that she should embrace who she is. Adults reading this book can also learn from the grandmother and how we can raise our children or students to think in a confident way like Molly Lou Melon.
