Description: This is the seventh edition of a definitive, comprehensive medical dictionary for both healthcare students and professionals. It updates the 2008 edition.
Purpose: From its 1833 beginnings as Dunglison's New Dictionary of Medical Science and Literature, Stedman's has continued its focus on providing current, comprehensive, highly-vetted, and accurate content.
Audience: The audience includes students, educators, and practitioners. An exhaustive list of over 70 consultants provides expertise.
Features: The seventh edition has grown to more than 56,000 terms and approximately 1,000 illustrations. Images have been reviewed and revised, and international content and British spellings for appropriate terms are included. The appendix section is extensive, containing units of measure, abbreviations, physical terminology, infection control, reference values, BMI, assessment & care, drug information, diet and nutrition, and professional information (organizations, titles/degrees), etc. Packaged with the dictionary is the Stedman's Plus Medical/Pharmaceutical Spellchecker CD-ROM. Purchasers of this book also will receive one year of free access to Stedman's Online, a website that includes five content sets of Stedman's family of dictionaries.
